Is there a forum for the QuadCore Freescale i.MX6Q CPU?

Anyone know anything about this CPU and how it compares to RK3066?

Greetings Grayson73:

I've found a link at TabletRepublic on the Sanei N10 Tablet.

I am already disappointed with the following information about a Battery Test this person did on the Tablet.
Take a look:

Battery test 1
Video playback battery test was made with screen set at 50% brightness, MX Player Pro H/W, playing mkv video file and Wifi off.
Video file: Indie.Game.The.Movie.2012.WEB-DL.x264-AKS74u.mkv

From full charge to 7% the battery lasted only 3h and 4min, not very impressive, not sure if future firmware updates can improve the battery life much.

It is 2012 and China Manufactures still can't standardize simple things like Battery life.

It is very diffcult for me who likes to resell China Made Tablets with only 3hours of Battery life, that is not competitive.

So this Sanei N10 Tablet is the same as the Ampe A10 Tablet with same Freescale i.MX6Q Quad Core Cpu.

Its too bad for the Battery life cause from videos that I've seen this Tablet is snappy fast.

Here is the link to the Tablet Republic Review:

Regards Robert

Sorry Robert from looking at the screenshots. I would have to disagree with you about the battery life on the this tablet. If you look screenshots you notice that cell standby is on. Which can cut the battery life of the device in half or worst if the cell standby isn't removed from the device.

Hello guys, I am too thinking of buying the N10 tablet, yet after reading the review from the guy at TabletRepublic I have second thoughts due to the small battery life.
However we should take into account that the tablet under review is the N10 with the A10 processor and not the Freescale i.MX6Q.

The "mobile network signal function" is something that can be deactivated easily from the android menu or is it something that requires more sofisticated knowledge?? If so the battery of the tablet seem to be rather disapointing.

I have the Ampe 10 which is the same as this. Ask me questions. So far, the market compatibility is pretty bad so hard to test thing.
Only benchmark I ran was Vellamo.

Hi max1001,

How is battery life?

Have you managed to root it? You could try zhuodashi.

If you have rooted it then you could modify build.prop for improved market & also try the xmlfiles fix.

Would be interested to know Antutu & Quadrant results.

Also how is the screen and touch response?

Thanks
Jez

Too early to judge battery life but so far, not good. But after a few charge cycle, it should get better.
Quadrant scores was around 3800 which is pretty low but Antutu was close to 9000. Screen is great, touch response is great, speaker is great. Camera is a joke but I am sure most ppl knew that.
I will try root tonight.
So far, Nova 3 and MassEffect crashes. NFS Hot Pursuit works. I will be trying all the 3d games I own one by one.
Web browsing is pretty fast, desktop speed fast.

Please try out:
Mutant Road, Pyramid Rising, Rail Rush, Subway Surf, Temple Run, Wind-Up Knight, Airport City.

Those do not run on my i7 tablet and believe problem with Vivante GPU. Curious to see if same or different for you.

*MINIX NEO X5 (RK3066) - OK. Not fun because uses mouse cursor.
*YUANDAO N80 DUAL (RK3066) - Very good
*CUBE U30GT (RK3066)- Defective; buttons broke in 2-3 weeks; Bad quality control!!! I will never buy a Cube again!!! - Very good while working
*WOPAD I7 (RK2918)- About OK. Sluggish because has weaker ARM chip (RK2918) & less RAM (512 MB).

I have a AMPE A10 Quad coming next week which I will run the numbers on and happily update on here.

Couple of FYI's - Sanei/Ampe - same products offering 2 different A10 models:

A10 Quad with Freescale imx.6 CPU, Vivivante GC2000 Quad Core GPU

A10 3G which uses Dual Core Qualcomm CPU (not certain which model) , Adreno 203 GPU

From Qualcomm website it would seem to suggest that the A10 3G uses the Snapdragon S4 Play, upto 1.2ghz Cortex A5

I run my battery test by looping Avatar in Android default movie player (i use the same file for all tablet battery tests) @ full brightness, full volume, WiFi On everything else off, eg Bluetooth, and expanded to full screen playback to try and keep discrepancies to a minimum.

Typically i see 3.5hours on an RK3066 tablet with an 8000mAh battery, although i did manage just over 4hours on an OEM 10.1" which i suspect may be something to do with the screen

Thanks for that. Have you tried new firmware yet (1.40) and did it improve battery?

Did you manage to root it & if so which method?

How much does it weigh? Haven't found this in any details.

Thanks

I install Senai N10 1.40 FW which is pre rooted. Battery life is 3-5 hrs.

OK. Good to see those are working for you. Guess it must be graphics driver issue with GC800. In any case, seems Vivante fixed it for GC2000.

Make a list of games that do not work for you. Either won't start or crash. Would be good for rest of us to know.

But, from GLBenchmark, can see that GC2000 does not score that well compared to Mali-400. ie. better than Tegra2 but worse than RK3066 & Tegra3.
GLBenchmark GPU results

OK. Exactly what people needed to know. Thanks!

I would suggest people go with RK3066 tablet instead. Those play almost all games out there and have better performance too.

This isn't a bad tablet, its just not a great tablet.

The build quality is very good, so to are the screen and speakers (although not quite Pipo M2/M3 quality).

The bench marks are ok but not spectacular - but I will admit I was hoping for some winning scores from the CPU at least.

Flashing to the new 1.58 firmware was simple, probably one of the most simple processes I have come across from stock as it doesn't require any software "tools" to be installed on your pc - just download, extract to SD card and follow the rest of the flash instructions.

But there are simply too many niggling problems that let it down:

It refuses to connect to my PC as a USB device and insists on connecting as a "media" player device. This would be ok except it doesn't like you moving, certain types, of files onto the tablet - with a warning prompt about compatibility appearing every single time. You do have the option of changing the USB detection to "camera" mode for pictures and such but in all honesty, so what........

I also had some issues with the format/formatting of the mSDcard. Despite having just flashed the firmware and simply copying the movies over onto the same mSDcard it would not recognise the "avi" files - a couple of attempts/formats later it finally resolved itself.

There are too many, fairly standard, apps that are not compatible with the tablet from stock - like the benchmark apps i use - and it is missing some basic apps, like the stock movie player which is M.I.A.

When i tried to use MX "movie" player there was no sound - i did sort it quite easily by telling MX to NOT use h/w encoding. But every time i tried a new movie the same problem occurred - i could not find the option to turn this off in settings by default.

During my battery test - where i play a movie until tablet runs flat - when it hit 7% battery left i got the usual prompt "warning me about low battery", fine you say - that is until it popped up again and again and again and again......... (I am not exaggerating it must have warned me 20 or 30 times before it finally ran out of juice).

Finally the battery life just isn't good enough, giving just 3 hours of continuous playback where with the RK3066 tablets you can expect 3.5-4hrs, 5hours with Pipo's M2 WiFi.edit - i usually use the stock player, so this may be a little misrepresented versus my other tests

Whether any, some or all of these issues can be resolved with subsequent firmware updates I don't know. Certainly a custom rom will sort out some of the Google Play compatibility issues but i suspect that by the time all these issues are as resolved, as they are going to get resolved, we will be moving onto other, new, CPU/GPU combinations.

My advice is don't buy this tablet, get yourself an RK3066 tablet. If you absolutely MUST have a Quad Core CPU tablet wait for the Samsung Exynos 4412, Tegra 3 (in 9.7/10.1") or one of the others to hit the market.
