I sidestepped and installed original v1.2 to see if i could easily set it in english. It worked and I could.
Ok, version 1.1 installing...............done.
Booting.....
Man, I have no luck with this tablet.
OK, wont boot on this version.... or I get a blank screen.
Trying F&L's and if that fails I can fall back on Onda's V1.2.
Went through the update with F&L's, rebooted, blank screen.
Onda's V1.2.

Well, that's it. It won't boot into recovery mode.
It won't boot at all. Little white robot, and that's it.
RIP vi30w ? Yup.
Anyone want it for refurbishing?

I've been doing this for all of the other Amlogic tablets that I sell. Here is one for the Vi30 Dual-Core.

This is just a basic clean ROM that will fix the market so you can see & install as many apps as possible.

Added
Gapps (Aka Google Apps & Sync Applications)
XML Files for Market
JAR Files for Market
i9300 fingerprint for gameloft downloads
Deodexed
Tablet Root
English Default
Guided Install/First Boot
Added Talk.apk that is compatible with Amlogic ROMS

Deleted
Chinese apps

Instructions(Almost forgot)

Unzip contents into root of Micro SD card.
With power off hold the home button which is on the front of the tablet.
Turn power on and keep home button depressed until tablet enters update mode.
Should update automatically.

I've installed your repacked V1.2 ROM and it is perfect thank you. After nearly pulling my hair out with the official Onda version due to Play Store refusing to work your repack is brilliant.

Thank you.

RIP vi30w ?

I'm new to these tablets. But the ROM is specifically for the "Vi30 dual core" and while the "Vi30W dual core" appears to use similar hardware there could possibly be a hardware marker preventing the ROM installation on your device.

You are correct. You might have to point me in the direction of the W designated firmware if there is a hardware disparity between the 2.

Edit: It is confirmed that the W has a different screen. So....you need to get the W firmware. This is why you have a boot loop I think. So find the original W firwmare. If/when you do send me a link to my E-Mail, NOT SLATEDROID(Although I love SLatedroid it's a pain in the *arse to message through the system) and I will be kind enough to repack the image for you even though I don't sell the W versions.

This is the firmware that was proposed to me from the Onda sales team; I was offered links (which I seem to have misplaced) for two versions; V1 and V2. The one that I (briefly) got working on my tablet was V2:719.
https://www.dropbox....ovys/TJgfl19rT-
I am surprised to learn there was a bigger difference than just the plastic casing between the two: it was the only difference mentioned on site. It means I took a bigger risk and failed. Sucks.
Wait a while before download: my upload speed is pathetic.
Tell me if the access is good.
Do you deliver to Canada?

Hi F&LSuperstore,
Just wanted to say a big thank you for the repack/fixes!
I messed around with the official Onda update release for a couple of days & besides having to work out which Chinese parts were safe to delete, I couldn't get Market to work so I eventually gave up.
Stumbled upon this post & had my tab up & running in less than 30 minutes from start of download to finish & boot.
After a couple of weeks playing with my new Vi30 dual, I have experienced precisely ZERO problems with any of the setup, so massive thanks for taking the time to put it together. Just got it to USB Host too, so have mouse, mini keyboard, printer etc etc all running perfectly on it.
It's a great little tablet for the money & your release makes it totally awesome!

Finally, I'm a relative newb to android & was wondering if the lack of bluetooth on the Vi30 dual is purely because of absent internal electronics or is it a function that can be added with a software tweak? I'm guessing it's a hardware issue.

Regards
Art.

We delivery anywhere. Unfortunately though since America doesn't do a lot of exporting other than our own oil and food, shipping prices are a little on the high side. I think it's about $25 to ship to Canada.

And yes the W has a lower resolution screen (800x600 compared to 1024x768) from what I understand.

I have the Vi30W Dual Core and the Screen resolution using Android System App is 768*976.

I came looking for a new Firmware as my Battery Drain with WiFi on is horrendous. Don't think I will try this one out.

this is the product description:

In the Q&A area, the difference is noted only as "Plastic casing".
I guess I have V2. V1 !

I believe the screens between the Vi30 and Vi30W are different however they both should have 1024*768.

I went for the W simply on Price, this biggest killer of tablets in my house isn't hardware failure......its kids :(

In case anyone is interested here are my Screen specs on the W version (taken from Android System Info App).

Resolution : 768*976
Refresh rate: 50.0
X Factor for DIP: 1.0
Density: 160dpi
Pixel Per Inch: X: 159.5681dpi Y: 159.895.08dpi

If you want some other info from the W version I can try and supply it (if I know where to get it)

The W version Out of Box wouldn't install apps (some 101 error in playstore), a factory reset resolved that. It also didn't have the WiFi speed issue reported, I had excellent speed via Wifi on ADSL.
It does have all the Chinese Apps that are part of the Package and can't be removed (I have disabled them).

Looking at my battery usage I am getting to about 35% and battery drain increases dramatically so it maybe a calibration issue I have and not a ICS WiFi issue.

I don't get it. Why does the firmware they had proposed to me no longer work, when it had ?
The tablet cycles through installation, then on reboot freezes at the Onda logo. Even after an hour.

Got my Onda vi30 dual core today, flashed F&L's rom all went well thanks F&L..
Nice tablet, good size, clear screen and good speed.. very happy..
I recon 8 inches is the perfect size.."for a tablet"
7 inch too small (fine for reading books, bit painful for surfing)
9.7 inch is great but it is just too big in your hand after a while.

Edited by coreo, 21 August 2012 - 12:25 AM.

Devices
-Icoo D90w 9.7 inch ips A10 (good screen. but slow)
-Onda Vi30 8 inch (AML8726-MX A9 dual core)
-Ramos w17pro 7 inch (AML8726-MX A9 dual core)
-Samsung Galaxy 7.7 gt 6810 (Samsung Exynos 4210, beautiful screen)
-Ipad Mini ( don't know what all the hype is about...like android much better)
-Chuwi v88 (7.9 inch rk3188)
-Ifive x2 (8.9 inch rk3188)
-Ramos i9 (8.9 inch intel z2580)
-Nexus 5

vi30 dual core is different from vi30w dual core physically. vi30w has 3 physical keys in the front. vi30 has only one. Also, vi30w has 2 hardware revisions. Use only the firmware specified for your model.

I wrote to Onda, stating my case as a failed upgrade (to their update, I did try it, after all). Maybe I'll be lucky enough to get a replacement.

Flash Player support appears to have been removed in the repack? I just wondered if this is deliberate?

On the subject of Flash support I noticed that version 11 is available on Google Play. I downloaded and installed this version which appeared tomworkfine but then I started noticing peculiarities with some embedded youtube videos playing very slowly or oriented the wrong way. So I've ,anaged to find the 10.2 version which is hardware accelerated and all seems to be good again.

I wondered what other peoples experiences of the different versions of Flash are?

Well, Onda has some customer service: After telling my story, they packed a patched firmware and sent it to me.
And it worked, I'm back in business :good:

@FLSuperstore:
I had a look at howto repack firmware: it looks awfully complicated...

The scripts make it easy.

As far as flash...yes I probably need the hardware accelerated flash version in my next builds. I always forget that the 10.2 one is different. But I bet the next builds will be JB and bye bye flash....
