It has the kernel and some of the customizations but I don't think it's full 4.1.
For example, Browser is default not Chrome, you can use Flash, the launcher is the same I think...
But it's still worth updating to, lockscreen is cool

This update is smatq's v4.1 update of v4.0 Android. Its not Jellybean as pointed out above. The Android version is still 4.0.4 ICS.

Looks like they release an update every month so might not be long until Android 4.1. Heres hoping!

official Jelly Bean Android 4.1 was released in July 2012. I suppose Chinese companies will take some time before they grab the source code, compile and release it... Some tablets running JB 4.1 have 2GB RAM, so I wonder if 1 GB RAM is enough...? Any thoughts anybody?

Be sure to clear data on Google Play Market and other google apps under "Settings -> Apps -> All" so that installation of new apps will work. Also, when you want to play a youtube video in a browser, it will say you need to install flash. Google market won't let me install it. So I downloaded Adobe Flash Player 11.1 from the chinese android market (Himarket green icon). Clear data in all web browsers, otherwise the flash player plugin may not run. Update Superuser and all other apps on Google Play Market after you clear data from the google apps. Some 3d action games from gameloft and "glu mobile" run for few seconds and crash...boom...gone. hm!

Get a "build prop" editor, run it, allow root and change these lines if you like to...but this may not be necessary.

it's uses the same CPU as my phone and that has no problems running JB

Thanks for the heads-up about Jelly Bean. :-D

I was in two minds about installing it as my (very) tweaked SmartQ with v4.1 (firmware version, the OS is 4.04) was working very well.
So...
A nandroid backup (so I could return directly to my full set up if I wasn't happy) and a full Titanium backup (for convenient installation of apps and settings) later...
Jelly bean installed without a hitch, along with my previous settings / apps :-)

I then went on to reapply the tweaks + buildprop settings that seem to work for me, and so first impressions:

Jelly bean runs very well on the T20, no hitches or issues that I've noticed so far. I guess the JB interface is a little smoother than ICS but there really isn't much in it.

The good:
No need to apply a market fix to allow the likes of Facebook to work
So far nothing seems broken
So far all the apps I've tried are still working
Spell-checking is working properly
Voice recognition is much better

Not so good:
I preferred the ICS font in the notification area
Not such a good showing on the Quadrant benchmark
Installing Chainfire 3D WILL brick JB! :-( The only way out is to re-flash your device and start again - as I bought the pro version I hope there's an update soon.

Verdict:
No Earth-shattering improvements, but for me the pro's just about outweigh the cons.

Please keep in mind I'm not hugely experienced with Android and these are basically my ICS tweeks not tested on JB that much...

So:
Apex Launcher (google play store) FWIW I think an improvement over the stock launcher. Options / speed.

System Tuner (google play store) A quick way to set up a few tweaks, others may have better options. Go to the tweaks button and just accept the reccomended settings (or medium) for now. For the SD card tab change the cache to 2048. Top-right click on the icon for the boot options - this will take you to the main settings menu and turn on the boot-time option for each tweak you made, leave the others alone. That will do for now.

ES File Explorer (google play store) You'll need something like this to edit the buildprop file. Whatever you use make sure it has root-access capability. For this one go to the settings and there are two tick boxes to select regarding root access - tick them both.
You should get a pop-up requesting superuser access, accept that. Then go to the local file display (see top left if you aren't already there) and then click the 'up' button to get in to the system root. Among the folders you should see one called 'system', open that and the buildprop file should be there.
At this point I'd strongly suggest coping this file to somewhere safe and asking yourself if your data + settings are backed-up.
Double-tap on the original buildprop and select a text editor from the list. If, like me, the ES Editor doesn't work properly on this file try further down said list and use the root editor.
Edit the file to your liking and the editor will ask you if you want to save when you exit.

Important points:
The above instructions are from memory, expect the exact wording / file names / icon names to be close to the ones I've said but possibly not exact.
Stuffing up your buildprop file is a really bad thing to do.

Right, I need to go copy the contents of my buildprop file to the forum, that should be in my next post. :-)

Here's another tweak I only just noticed I missed:

com.ti.omap_enhancement_s3d=false

Change to...
com.ti.omap_enhancement_s3d=true

It may be my imagination but it seemed to help the quadrant benchmark under ICS. No idea what it will do under JB, I am about to find out.

Now, I used to have a working Google+ app on it- which displayed very big photos. But now I have a version that doesn't work. As soon as the app starts it crashes.

Does anyone know either:

A) where to get an apk for a version that works on T20

if the current version on Google Play works on the Jelly Bean update (I've not updated to Jelly Bean yet, still using v.4)

Think the problem is changing the build.prop means you get the phone version not the tablet version.

Yes, I'm still getting to know JB...
...but it seems to me that JB (at least on the T20) does give lower benchmarks than ICS, no matter what. The best Quadrent score I've managed so far is 3403, some way off the best with ICS...
...still, in the real world it's more than good enough for me but I'll keep playing. :-)

On an unrelated note I've found something that's a little broken compared to the last ICS build:
I bought a CoPilot Bluetooth GPS module for my T20 which worked out of the box under ICS. Although it pairs fine under JB it won't show up under location services and isn't available to GPS-aware apps. :-(
Ho-hum... Bluetooth GPS from the app store fixes this (the version with the red icon) so no biggie - just a bit of a pain it's not automatic now.

I recently upgraded to the latest firmware (SmartQ T20 Android4.1 V2.2). After that I did the market fix and also changed my build.prop (from above). but still can't install Chrome browser as it says its not compatible with my device. anyone had similar problem? any fix?

I did like you but nothing happen! My teclast tablet nothing changed after restart, info section always show teclast model name.
