Flashing new roms/fw

small introduction before getting to the point...

OK, my Gemei G9 out of the box lasted all of 2 minutes before it crashed and stuck at the boot logo. I came on here and found out about alternative firmwares to flash it with, awesome. I followed MrTasselhof's guide to get the MOMO V11 fw onto my G9 using livesuit etc then ran his script to the instruction. First go, worked perfectly!

A week or so later I noticed it crashing repeatedly, probably with me tinkering so decided to give the Ekon fw a go after reading it's good reviews on here.

Followed Supy73's guide to the letter, using the livesuit, bits of tasselhof script then bits of sausage script...

First time it flashed (always the format option) - it boot-looped. 2nd attempt, another boot-loop. 3rd attempt back to MOMO fw, booted up but still boot-looping!

this is the puzzling part...

4th attempt, I try again with the MOMO fw and only tasselhof script hey presto it works... BUT the icons are set to 120 size (from the sausage script on attempt 2 wtf?!). I edit the boot file and run sausage script no 5 again, back to 160. A stable, happy system that can run all 4 angry birds games among others
.

Question tho - I would have thought formatting would wipe all traces of prev fw etc? The fact it took several formats and still had bits from previous attempts suggests otherwise?

I am not sure why or how it behaves that way, but that is a reason for those that have a "dead" tablet.. I have always advised flashing the GB rom w/ format then boot... then the Stock ICS w/ format and boot... then whatever firmware you want to actually run w/ format.
