Hi All,

So I have been diligently working on this script and testing it to make sure it works how I plan.
This is sort of a combined script based off of the work of myself, Ivanz, & Almaz's script from the Aurora forums.

I call this a "Superscript" because it is essentially an all-in-one solution which allows you to pick and choose what you want to do.

AS ALWAYS - PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK

Attached File  Tasselhof - Stock - Root, Market, Build.Prop, & Tweaks Script - G9T.zip   9.88MB   811 downloads

Here is the script Menu when you run it:

Make sure to enable USB Debugging on the tablet
- Settings -) Applications -) Development -) USB debugging (green checkmark)
'
1. Check Tablet Connection
2. ROOT - Gemei G9T - Using Transformer ROOT Script
3. BLANK - DISABLED
4. Replace the Build.Prop to enable additional apps in market
'
***** ADDITIONAL OPTIONS *****
5. Install System Tweaks and Files
'
***** DISABLE/ENABLE SYSTEM SERVICES *****
6. Disable Services to Increase Battery Life
- Such as: Phone, 3G, Bluetooth, Provision, VPN
7. Re-Enable All Services
8. Enable Only 3G Services
9. Enable Only VPN Services
'
10. Quit and Reboot Tablet (Preferred)
'
Choose Option (1 thru 10):

Here are what the options will do:

1.) Verifies that the tablet is connected and recognized by the system
2.) Runs the Transformer ICS ROOT script which has been confirmed to work with the MOMO11 bird firmware (this will reboot the tablet a couple times)
3.) DISABLED
4.) Replaces the existing Build.Prop with a modified and tweaked one that contains a Market Key based off of the Samsung Galaxy SII (should open up more app compatibility)
5.) Installs various system tweaks and settings (purely optional to run)
6.) Disables the Phone and VPN services to attempt to increase battery life
7.) Enables the services disabled in number 6
8.) Selectively enables only the phone/3G aspects
9.) Selectively re-enables the VPN aspects
10.) This will close the command prompt window and reboot the tablet, which I advise you do if you ran options 3, 4, and 5

Here are my detailed instructions for what to do after flashing the firmware to your device to get it to a "normal" English state:

1.) (OPTIONAL) Install with format the Gemei G9 Stock ICS 4.0.3 v4.10 firmware
2.) Boot the tablet and connect it to USB.
3.) Click the Blue Square button (to cancel the tutorial)
4.) Change the language to English

a.) Click on the Time (give it a second to come up)
b.) Click on the Settings Icon below the popped up time (three lines with sliders)
c.) Click on the Settings Icon at the bottom of the popped up list (same icon)
d.) Scroll down the Left Hand side and click on the icon with an A
e.) Click the first field on the right hand side
f.) Select your preferred language (for me it would be English (United States)

5.) Change the Default Keyboard in the same settings page as lanuage

a.) Click on Default
b.) Click on English (US) - Android keyboard

6.) Set the Date, Time, and Time Zone

a.) Click on Date & Time along the left hand side of the settings
b.) Uncheck Automatic Time Zone
c.) Click on Select time zone and set it to yours
d.) Verify the time is correct and change it if needed.

7.) Configure the Wireless Settings

a.) Scroll up to Wi-Fi on the left of settings
b.) Turn on Wi-Fi with the toggle switch
c.) Connect to your Wireless Network

8.) Exit the Settings

Now we use the script!

1.) Download the script file: LINK and extract the folder
2.) Ensure your tablet is connected by USB to the top MicroUSB port (near headphone jack)
3.) Double click on: !RUN-ME-Tasselhof-Root-Market-Tweaks.bat
4.) Use Option 1 (verify the tablet connection)
5.) Use Option 2 (ROOT the tablet, will reboot twice)
6.) DISABLED
7.) Use Option 4 (Update Build.Prop)
8.) Use Option 5 (Install Tweaks and Files)
9.) Use Option 6 (Disable unused services)
10.) Use Option 10 (Close and Reboot the Tablet)

You are now all done and should have a relatively blank slate to start from.
You will be prompted to configure your Google account when you open the Android Market.

Enjoy!

I believe I may have removed the GAPPS portion... so that it could be posted directly to SlateDroid as an Attachment...
I also haven't tested the GAPPS portion so I can't see whether it would work as planned.

Once you have copied the build.prop... you need to at a minimum reboot, but ideally clear the cache on the google play app.

Hi Tasselhof,

Big thanks for creating the scripts. However, I ran into issue in step 3. It would appear that the Superuser is install and working correctly. However, the command adb root has result error message of "adbd cannot run as root in production builds"?

Thanks,

Piggy

Cleared cache... reboot... NO success.

I did this steps:

1) Copy modified build.prop with fingerprint to /system using terminal app
2) chmod 644 build.prop
3) Clear play store cache
4) reboot

Still without access to aps like facebook, youtube... and lot of apps... Device is recognized as Samsung on Google account but applications like youtube, facebook and many others doesn't appear (in a windows machine trying to remote install the application says that device (samsung one) is not compatible with app).

I downloaded youtube.apk last version and installed directly without problems.

What could the problem be?

I tried to restore fabric settings after copy build.prop but no success...

I believe I may have removed the GAPPS portion... so that it could be posted directly to SlateDroid as an Attachment...
I also haven't tested the GAPPS portion so I can't see whether it would work as planned.

It seems that is not refreshing fingerprint, I tried other fingerprint with no success.

Tried to wipe cache, fabric restore...

Tried to stop market, clear cache, stop google services framework, clear data...

Still not showing all apps on market... any ideas????

On my Teclast A10 tablet I tried every build prop mod with no success.
Here is a link to what finally did the trick.
http://www.slatedroi...s-missing-apps/
I had root and used Root Explorer for the mod.
Follow all instructions exactly (at your own risk).
Afterward I could "see" any app in the market.

Thank you very much!!!

This did the trick!!!

1) I copied build.prop with samsung fingerprint and chmod 644 to /system

2) This files were missing:
android.hardware.location.gps.xml
android.hardware.location.xml

I copied them and chmod 644 (rw- r-- r--) to /system/etc/permissions

3) The file tablet_core_hardware.xml was without some features I activated them as in the file attached to the post xmlfiles.zip

4) Reboot

5) Clear cache, data on play store, stop app and start again, accept license...

NOW facebook, youtube and lot of apps are showing up!!! , still missing some apps but big improvement!!!

I gathered information and files on making more apps show on market.

Go to settings > apps and clear cache and data for play store. Uninstall updates.

Use es file explorer and using root permissions, copy file build.prop to /system and the rest of the .xml files to /system/etc/permissions

Use again es file explorer and change the permissions for all 4 files that you copied to rw- r-- r--

I attach for you the needed files.

It took me some time and a couple of reboots for some unknown reason to get all the apps showing, but still I get some problems such as, Google+ downloads and install a really old version!!

So I guess it will do it's job, but it's not perfect.

Hi Tasselhof,

Can you create another root script for G9T 4.0.4 based OS?

The latest firmware from Gemei, G9T_A4.0.4_V2.30.0808, seems to have caused the root script to stop working. The previous g9t firmwares were all 4.0.3 base.

Here is the output message.

Start Rooting...
failed on '/data/local/tmp' - Permission denied
link failed File exists
reboot #1 - DO NOT DISCONNECT YOUR DEVICE!
/system/bin/sh: cannot create /data/local.prop: Permission denied
reboot #2 - DO NOT DISCONNECT YOUR DEVICE!

Thanks,

Piggy

I am too stupid to get root access.

I can't install the right driver for my gemei g9t. Everytime I stick in the USB, an acer driver is installed. The script does not detect my g9t. How can I install the right driver???

Now ADB worke fine - but still problems with Google Play Store...

Point 4. Replace the Build.Prop to enable additional apps in market does not work. There happens nothing when I click that point! Still no facebook, still no youtube.
Can anyone help please?

Same thing for me. Getting an error when running the script at the first line of the rooting process running on G9T 4.0.4 (update as of August 22nd)

1|shell@android:/ $ mv /data/local/tmp /data/local/tmp.bak
mv /data/local/tmp /data/local/tmp.bak
failed on '/data/local/tmp' - Permission denied

I tried manually listing the content of /data/local and got also a permission denied. Any other way I could root that tablet? I saw the root tool in BBS forum on the gemei forum but could not download it since you need to be a member and I couldn't login. Anyone able to grab that root tool?

Thanks

There you go http://bbs.gemeitech...ead&tid=143323. I was able to create an account but it's now at awaiting autorization or something like that. I guess they manually accept registrations.

edit: The file is named something like g9t_root.zip

I'm wondering if OTA RootKeeper could work if I went back 4.0.3, root then upgrade to 4.0.4

edit #2: not surprised, OTA Rootkeeper didn't work since it's not an update.zip file. It basically not an update but a full flash so it deleted the su files... :(

Thanks a lot! :)

To increase the application compatibility download Gemei G9T xmlfiles and build.prop.zip ( posted by Jason Matsoukas ) .

Unzip the file and copy the folder to g9t sdcard

Use file explorer to copy the build.prop file on /system ( rename the build.prop to build.prop.old before copy ) , and follow the same procedure with the files in the folder /etc/permissions

Reboot your tablet.

Mine is working following this procedure.

Regards...
