While searching for a ROM for WM8850 I found your forum post.
I have such device and I've written about it in my blog http://www.cnx-softw...ng-and-review/.

Feel free to ask me some questions if there is not enough information in that post.

I would like to make a backup of the Flash memory to be able to restore it in case I brick my device, since the firmware does not appear to be available for this device.
I've installed ROM manager, but since it does not recognize the device (wm8850-mid), it won't be able to perform the backup. Any risk-free way to do such backup ?

Hello

Those tablets wont brick, that’s for sure. I have one Go on Touch PC677 (WonderMedia, WM8850 processor, branded as WM8550-MID in system information).
After several incorrect firmware’s I managed to put him to work with "7 Touch firmware WMC-1592.zip", but at a cost, I lost 4Gb internal HDD (original 8Gb).
Some of the tries I made also lead me to a black screen, this is because the firmware is not the correct one when you get the right one he will live again.

Best regards
JO

I all i see that in this forum you are talking about wondermedia 8850 tablet, i had an eken w70 clone( i'm sure of it because i was able to install on it the eken w70 1.5.5 firmware without problem) when it worked it work very fine good 3d speed, nice browsing capability, but after trying to install jellybean from veedee E10 that has appeared good to me even on config file i see configuration for eken w70, the update goes good it donw all steps but after the sdcard remove advice, my tablet wont turn on anymore, someone had this problem? some way to fix ?, (the battery charge led working fine, the battery charged correctly, set to default button do nothing) tnx further, any help appreciated :) bye

Hi androx1974,
I have a similar tablet, wm8850 with dual camera. I successfully flashed the Uberoid JellyBean 0.7 firmware (available here) on that device this morning. You could try that on your device, with the appropiate w70 .fcw file. There are a number of different w70 models and clones, so you might have to try different config files.

Other than that, you wrote that you could flash the w70 FW from the eken homepage, I'd suggest going back to that firmware first, in order to see if the device is still flashable (=reflash 1.5.5).
If the reflash with 1.5.5 FW works well, you can take the .fwc-file from the 1.5.5 FW for the JellyBean flash (I did the same thing after messing up my backside cam with a wrong .fwc file).

Good luck,
best regards, PADMAN
