Quick Update:

I believe I will be receiving my Window N90 II in a day or two.
I plan to put up a "quick and dirty" text review, and then try to get a video done as soon as possible.

I think this has the potential to be a VERY popular device and I would like to see this forum community grow ;)

Quick and Dirty Review

I received my Window N90 II Dual Core for review and testing today.

I can say that the device is built really well and a beast on performance.
I think there are still areas for improvement through firmware updates as I don't think the device is nearly as optimized as it could be.

I have recorded all of the video for the first review and a second video containing benchmarks.
Most likely those won't be available for view until tomorrow.

I think this is a VERY solid contender in the Dual Core tablet market and is priced very well. It is half the price of an Asus Transformer Prime and is at nearly the same performance without the optimized firmware.
Having built in Bluetooth is also a GREAT feature that has been missing from the bulk of these tablets.

I can confirm the following all work as intended:
Netflix
Skype
ShadowGun
Full Market
Map Location
5 Point Multi-touch
Bluetooth
Embedded YouTube
External Mouse and Thumb Drive
1080P Video
Dual Core clocked at 1.6 Ghz

I look forward to continuing to explore this device and seeing what the community at large comes up with to tweak it even further.

In comparison if you have seen my Gemei G9 videos, just think of that device with even better CPU and GPU.

Thanks and stay tuned!

Early versions showed the power button right beside the back camera. I am very happy they "fixed" their design.

This final version looks really nice. I believe it will be one of the best choices for 9.7" RK3066 tablets out there. RK3066 & 8726-MX are new chips and will take some time to improve their firmwares. I would think about 6 months time to get them really optimized.

8000mAh battery is a great size.

4:3 not 16:9! =)

All, 9.7" tablets are 4:3 aspect ratio. Also, can tell from the resolution.
*YUANDAO N80 DUAL (RK3066)
*CUBE U30GT (RK3066)- Defective; buttons broke in 2-3 weeks; Bad quality control!!! Must return to China for repair! =(
*WOPAD I7 (RK2918)

On my device the power button is on the back near the camera, but it isn't all that bad.
My device has a white plastic back w/ a small side panel covering the HDMI, USB, and TF Card ports.

Please check WiFi signal. Very important.

Also, display quality, colors & contrast. Though should be really good since using IPS.

I would essentially call this a Gemei G9, just with a better CPU/GPU.

Hi, for the final version, where is the power button located? Thanks

Well... got some minor bad news... or rather delay...

Must Reencoded as my software thought it would be great to encode it in 3D...

For those that are 3D capable though... here is a direct link to see the video as I have set it to "Unlisted"

I will let you know once the proper format has been uploaded ;)

I would say on one of the sides but need better pics to tell on which one. It used to be on the back but the pictures I see no longer show it beside the back camera.
http://www.yuandaocn...ails.aspx?id=27

I wish they would have shown some side pics on their site. So I could see the ports and buttons. Also, it has a plastic cover for the side ports and maybe they kept it for their final version? I really did not care for that cover either.

EDIT:
Some pics of their "testing" version for comparison:

So the power button is on the back after all. This will disencourage some buyers. I always fill the need of a full usb port on these devices. In my country we mainly use 3g and it's weird to walk with the 3g modem plus an adaptor usb cord hanging on it. They could also release an internal 3g tablet in this case the micro usb port wouldn't be an issue.

Please don't forget to test the battery life.

Hi Mr Tasselhof,

Good to see you doing one of your quality reviews on what looks to be a very high quality tablet.

I have a Cube U30GT on pre-order but these seem to be in short supply at the moment so I don't know how long I'll have to wait before I get mine
Although I prefer the 16:10 ratio of the screen on the Cube to the Window's 4:3 I notice that quite a few places already have them in stock.
Also, having watched your first video I am now very tempted to order one of these as well as the Cube and then keep whichever I prefer in the long run.

Anyway, I am looking forward to your second video instalment with benchmark results. I expect the Cube to have very similar results as it shares the same CPU/GPU; just the higher screen resolution on the Cube that could make a slight difference.

Jez

The resolution according to System Panel is 1024x720, so it appears it may be in 16:10... Definitely the screen isn't completely square on it.

Yes that's due to the 48 pixels taken up by the ICS status bar. 720 + 48 = 768.
So it is 4:3 like all 9.7" screens.

Quick and Dirty Review

I received my Window N90 II Dual Core for review and testing today.

I can say that the device is built really well and a beast on performance.
I think there are still areas for improvement through firmware updates as I don't think the device is nearly as optimized as it could be.

Had you try

Tasselhof

Quick and Dirty Review

I received my Window N90 II Dual Core for review and testing today.

I can say that the device is built really well and a beast on performance.
I think there are still areas for improvement through firmware updates as I don't think the device is nearly as optimized as it could be.

Had you try

Hi Newbie here!!

Been looking at a number of tablets recently and definately think that this is the one, except that Window has brought out a newer tablet N101 with a 10.1 display and slightly higher resolution I think. I don't know if I should go with the N90 X2 seeing as it has been out for a while and has been tested by a few buyers or take the plunge with the N101.

Decisions Decisions!!
