can anyone make a mirror from this? Thanks!

Just put this on my w17pro - be warned that it wiped my device completely when I installed it, including the language setting, so it booted up in chinese.
I have another android 4 device so could navigate settings and set it to UK english, and I just re-linked my google accounts and then reinstalled all my apps (except those that Google seem to have removed from Google Play), and I had no local content like photos etc that I wanted to keep.

But if you're going to install this, practice finding and changing the language setting BEFORE you install it, and backup all your data before you start....

Other than that, seems fine so far, and it has the the benefit that in wifi advanced settings you can now change the wifi sleep policy (I have it set to "Keep wifi on during sleep only when plugged in" - YMMV) - that's the feature I missed most in the 4.0.3 build.

I just installed this, but I can't get root now. :( I saved a root_your_w17pro.zip to the sd card, but the option to install zip from sd isn't listed in recovery. Did I do something wrong?

I don't need root on my w17pro (given the Play store works and there's no 3G to tether etc) so didn't really bother, especially when this 4.1 seems much better than the 4.0.3, but having said that ** I haven't tried this but ** this page seems to have a script that has rooted lots of 4.0 and 4.1 devices

http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1886460

Usual disclaimers about bricking your device etc - as I said I haven't tried it, so proceed with caution etc but I'd be interested to know if anyone has tried it...

I will get this tablet in few weeks, so i am asking you which firmware/ROM to use?
I downloaded RAmos W17PRO.20121022 ROM repack from first page of this thread, Jelly Bean 4.1.1 (Ultimate Edition) and latest official firmware (w17ref.20130322.eng.liu). So what do you think, which ROM/firmware have great stability, most features and compatibility with GooglePlay store?
And if i install latest official firmware w17ref.20130322.eng.liu (http://www.ramos.com...ion=view&id=394) will i be able to root device?

Hi Guys!Has anyone experience about the new official firmware? Is it stable, everything works? I'm using currently cm10, does it worth to change to the official fw?
Thanks

ButcherZV I advise you the CM10 port, its stable and fast. I tried ultimate jelly bean as well, but I think this is better. It spports more languages than other fws, and has a lot of extra features. Its pre-rooted, and based on jelly bean as well. My only problem is, that the kernel doesn't really let you to change cpu speed (only 48, 480 and 1320 mhz and 2 governors.and the max cpu frequency is 1320 mhz instead of 1500.)

I've been running this new 4.1 official firmware for a couple of weeks, it's been rock solid stable and I have no complaints... market works fine, and some apps that wouldn't start on the w17pro on 4.0.3 (Appliness - https://play.google....ssAndroid&hl=en) now run fine on 4.1, and the wifi sleep mode now means that I don't have to turn wifi on & off - so the tablet has been in my bag all weekend without being charged, and when my newspaper app downloads new articles (~4am daily) then the wifi connects, downloads, then because the screen is locked then the wifi sleeps again. So it's showing that it's been running 6 days on battery (now at 40% charge) but it still has the latest news, and similarly other background apps (gmail, twitter etc) pull new data in that 4am window.

Before the 4.1 build I had to either turn the wifi off or plug it in to charge overnight, or else the battery would be flat in the morning.

Can't comment on cm10 as I haven't used it, the 4.1 firmware doesn't have root, and System Settings includes Developer Options but not things like changing the CPU speed so if that's you thing then you'll want to stay with CM... but I think the 4.1 is a big improvement on previous versions as it makes the tablet more usable day-in-day-out without having to charge it every day.

Thank you for the info, I will give it a try :D (the battery drain issue is a problem on cm10 too...)

Hello im having a big problem here . Few weeks ago, my ramos w17 pro began to have 'ghost touch' issue . The tablet non stop touching it self on some spot crazily. This problem is really annoyed me . Then, the problem go worse. The touch screen is not responding anymore and I have to use a mouse to control it. So i'm thinking of replacing a new touch screen digitizer. The second problem is my tablet will never awake from sleep. whenever i press the on/off button to wake it up, it will automatically restart. so i have to shut down the tablet every time i'm done using it with a mouse instead of sleep it . These problem is really annoyed me cause i can't use it properly . I hope that somebody can help me pls =(

Hi everybody!

Does anybody knows if the topic creator still supports the topic?

Looks like there a lot of updates to be posted to the first topic message...

Also there are few interesting updates from the russian 4pda.ru forum. If someone is interested I could translate, review and upload the files to more sutable sources.

Here is a rooted version of the new W17PRO JB w17ref.20130322.eng.liu ROM.
I repacked the ROM with supersu and binaries, busy-box has been updated to v1.21, boot.img modded for init.d support, and default language changed to English.
I included an app2sd script to automatically move apps to ext2/3/4 partition on external sdcard if available.
There are two versions one with the governor speed set to 1.32GHz and one at 1.51Ghz at boot. The speed can be edited in /etc/init.d/30cpuspeed.
I have two W17Pros; One runs fine at 1.51GHz the other one only likes to run at 1.32GHz without crashes.

Download link:

I left the install scripts alone. If you don't want it to erase your internal storage, delete "--wipe_media" from factory_update_param.aml before flashing.

Thanks for this Gearslam! I'm inclined to just choose the 1.32GHz version.
I have a few question: Is the footprint set to have galaxy tab? to allow installation of most apps? thanks!

If you don't want to edit the build prop for more apps, another way is to use MarketHelper-1.1.apk, Select Tablet -> Nexus 7 3G, then log into www.google.com/dashboard, logout and reboot the tablet.

Thanks a lot! This might be what I need :)
As soon as I get hold of the tablet (maybe in June, as it's currently with my parents), I'll try your ROM, and this app. Thanks again!

New firmware includes original footprint - and that might be the reason.

Changing foot print to same as galaxy tab might help.

This might help you...

Had build number jro03c.eng.20130114 (4.1.1) this was the original firmware which was on the tablet when diliverd.
Think there was also no footprint change.
And u need root acces for the market app if im correct
Because I tryed it but it won't work

Btw after putting back the build wich was newer.(think it was from march. The tablet now stays in boot logo
Spinning round but doesn't start up :(

What is the best solution
Thx for u answer
