I`ve just found something beautiful - a way the increase the responsiveness of the Wifi and decrease the battery usage when using wifi. It`s nothing new if you are in build.prop file configuration.

there are two settings that can be added/changed in build.prop file on Hyundai a7hd tablet, you can copy them and paste directly in your build.prop

this setting is already in build.prop , it decides about how often does the wifi of the tablet make roaming, if it do it less often then it consumes less power. Standard setting on our tablet is 15, I recommend 150 :

wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=150

this setting IS NOT in build.prop, you have to add it (copy & paste). It has something to do with the buffers of wifi data, I dont know what exactly are those values, but they work for me perfect so I suggest you use them to, just copy &paste this line to your build.prop and reboot:

net.tcp.buffersize.wifi=4096,87380,256960,4096,16384,256960

Believe me, you will not be dissapointed. My browsers now download pages like 10 times faster, google play also download data 10 times faster - it`s great !

Thank you!!

My custom rom has the first entry but with value 150.

The last entry I don´t know. I will prove that it works.

Thanks!! My Gemei has 180. I´ve changed the value to 120, and apply the other line too

Read carefully- If you had 180, it was saving your battery more . Less = more power consumption. In Hyundai A7Hd we had by standard value 15, so increasing it to 120 makes difference. In your case it could be that because 120 < 180 the battery consumption will go higher ...

Hi,

I just registered to say "Thank you"! Your suggested change on build.pro really works!
I have modified the wifi scanning interval to 180 and the tablet and last 5 hours of non-stop web serving instead of 4 hours in the past.
The other tcp buffersize settings is not bad either, it makes the web serving heaps faster than before!
Once I bought this tablet I search everyday on how to make the wifi become more stably, now you did it!
Thanks a lot again!

P.S. I will try to make the wifi scanning to 240, I will post the result later on.

Thanks!! Yes, the consumption is more higher, returning to 180...

I can confirm this works, although I have currently tried wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=180 to try and save as much juice as I can considering our battery life.

Yeah, I also am testing more - right now I`m using 150 , today I`ll start using 180. I`m changing the first post with the 180 value as I see its even better than 120 ;)

I`ve heard it can go even higher than 180 ;)

Edit: I stay at 160 value - still checking but I feel like when I have 180 my wifi responsiveness is not that good. It seems to download data more slowly with 180 though it`s strange cause this setting is not about bandwith. When I come up with some conclusions, I`ll update first post.

Hi.
In the line:
net.tcp.buffersize.wifi=4096,87380,256960,4096,163 84,256960

there is a space between 163 and 84. Once I didn't copy/past but entered the values manually, I didn't put "163 84" but "16384". What is the correct way?

Thanks

No space! 16384 is one number.

With space, may or may not work right. Without space, will work right for sure.

This is how these two values were explained to me as best I can relay that information.

wifi.supplicant_scan_interval sets the time in seconds between when the tablet will scan for wifi networks. So a value of 15 will cause the tablet to scan every 15 seconds. It shouldn't affect the actual performance of browsing. Scanning every 15 seconds will burn juice. I don't know if there is a max or min value that can be used.

net.tcp.buffersize.wifi I'm a bit less familiar with, but it changes the size of data packets sent and maybe something else. This is the value that has an effect on browsing and download speeds. It makes better use of data packet sizes and other things beyond my understanding that reduce transmission and increase effeciency. There are actually several other similar values that can be set for this, but they affect things for cell phone data transfer, etc.

Just FYI the other values are

net.tcp.buffersize.default=4096,87380,256960,4096,16384,256960
net.tcp.buffersize.umts=4096,87380,256960,4096,16384,256960
net.tcp.buffersize.gprs=4096,87380,256960,4096,16384,256960
net.tcp.buffersize.edge=4096,87380,256960,4096,16384,256960

those settings are only used if you have USB 3G modem connected - and this thread was all about wifi only ;)
but ok, good for everybody to know that there are other options to include in build.prop.

PS you can actually use ES File Explorer to edit it.

I've got an allwinnner 9.7" tablet, can I apply the browser changes?

How would I do that? I want to make the browsing faster and don't want to flash a new rom.

thats really dependant on whether your device is rooted, install build.prop editor from the market and edit follow OP's instructions, when i did it first time it corrupted it but installing roms is really easy, just be patient and read up on livesuit,

oh and big thanks to OP i confirm that they both work, also if anyone wants to really improve their wifi, google 'a7hd wifi mod', spanish bloke readjusted wifi antenna, i myself drilled a hole in metal case and make it external, although it looks bad it gets better wifi reception than my laptop does now
