Is this ever going to happen, or has updating the Alpha become a lost cause?

I imagine it is a lost cause. I can't even get them to send me a new charger for mine. I talked to them twice over the last three months. I think they wrote off all of the older hardware and their owners.

Do you mean a custom rom? The last firmware upgrade fixed all the know issues. I doubt there will be another. Maybe if people are interested I could work on a custom rom, but I no longer have a original Alpha to test on. So I could make the changes, but someone would need to test.
