More progress - from http://www.apad.tv/a...or-ainol-Aurora

The procedure is:

0. Run LiveSuitPack_v1.07.exe
1. Start up LiveSuit and select the image etc until you get the Finish key.
2. THEN Hold Vol+, Plug in USB, Pulse PWR 10x
3. Then it jumps to the next step - all re-flashed!!

And it's back, reboots and starts find remembering my settings.

So next time it's VERY careful with what I install!!!

How are you getting on with the Aurora? Did you see that Feiyu's latest ROM is for CWM? :-) I flashed it yesterday.

It's behaving Ok now actually, so I'm wait until there is a Feiyu stable .img file to try first. The CWM appears to be affected by previous builds a bit whereas an image is a complete blanket copy as far as I can see - so it's more likely to help me - I don't understand how to apply these .zip patches the thread mentions anyway ;).

It's a shame this 'open' Android software isn't more open as we should all be able to build CWM ROMs and .img images TBH, but as Ainol keeps the source code and trees I guess this is difficult without a lot of work. As long as my touchscreen keeps it real I'm happy enough with the factory 309 build until we have a 'everything works well' Feiya .img file to try.

You can do a full wipe in CWM. Something I'm going to try. http://checkrom.com/...orrect-way.432/

Though I'm really not sure this is required. Most instructions tell you to wipe data and caches.

Fixing the mysterious factory reset, that on a reboot clears all user data.

Ok, so twice now I have rebooted to see all my data and apps GONE, and back at the Chinese 'start again' screen.
The first time I fixed this by re-imaging the whol tablet..

..and I thought it was malicious code.
HOWEVER - I have now found out the cause (from an issue in scrolltabletforum).

This issue is caused by the busybox install, caused by an incompatibility between busybox and ICS (Android 4).
What happens is the a couple of vital directories containing user data FAIL TO MOUNT.

The reason is that the program /system/bin/busybox is missing. As you will not be able to download anything from Google Play at this time (No space - volume not mounted) you have to get hold of term.apk, The android terminal emulator, and copy the busybox in xbin to bin. Then reboot.

And that's it folks - all your stuff magically returns - woohoo!!

Type into the terminal emulator: cp /system/xbin/busybox /system/bin

Enjoy!

I can't believe I didn't find this post 24 hours ago! Having said that, if I didn't encounter this problem, I wouldn't have learnt how to complete a ROM flash, use CWM updates and a whole lot of other random things... I managed to repeat the busybox factory reset problem on 3 occasions before learning that it was the culprit... not bad for over a week of owning an Aurora LG IPS!
