PLEASE BACK ANYTHING UP BEFORE YOU CONTINUE!

BIG THANKS to BlueEyes for being able to download and provide the original files.

Gemei G9 - Stock - ICS 4.0.3 v4.10
http://www.sendspace.com/file/jzyhhb
- Contains only the image file

Here is what the firmware is telling me:
About Device:
Model number: gemei G9
Android version: 4.0.3
Baseband version: v4.10
Kernel version: 3.0.8 lzy@lzy-desktop #8
Build number: crane_gm_g9-eng 4.0.3 IML74K 20120323 test-keys

Possible Alternate Download Option: - thanks Blubb0211

here are the img files: http://www.wu.cx/gemeig9/
As it says, stock_rom is Gemei G9 ICS Rom and momo11 is the Momo11 ICS Rom.
I hope this works for you guys! A10tools are the flashing tools and the drivers (originally from Gemei Homepage).

3rd Download option

I was browsing the Gemei G9 website and found the direct download for what should be this firmware.
http://www.gemeitech...wnload.asp?id=1

I have not tested this firmware download directly, but believe it should be the same and work fine.

2nd BIG THANKS to BlueEyes for assistance with Driver files

Hello MrTasselhof, about the usb drivers. the ones you provided didnt work. neither did the ones in the firmware. but i found these:
http://tabletrepubli...ecific-556.html
(scroll down to "GoldBond drivers have worked from some...")

might be my 64bit Windows 7 being the reason that yours didnt work. you might want to add this download link so ppl know what to do when
they run into the same problem i did :-)

I have downloaded the above files and slightly reworked them.
I also reuploaded them to AndroidTabletFirmware.com (ATF) which is a SlateDroid sister site created by MP4! - THANKS!
- this site allows firmwares to be posted and shared without expiring download links!

The file below contains the official stock Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) firmware for the Gemei G9.
It also contains the LiveSuite software and USB Drivers.

Download Link:
AndroidTabletFirmware.com - 2012-23-03-GemeiG9-ICS-4.0.3-v4.10-Firmware.rar
Alternate Download Link: Sendspace.com - 2012-23-03-GemeiG9-ICS-4.0.3-v4.10-Firmware.rar

It has also been suggested that using a download assistant type program can prevent corruption/timeout issues with AndroidTabletFirmware.com:
Here is a basic on as a suggestion/try: Download.com - Internet Download Manager

If you are currently using the MOMO11 bird Firmware:
- I would advise selecting the format option and start fresh for the device.

Here are Install Instructions:

1.) Download the File
2.) Extract the folder inside the .RAR file
3.) Connect your tablet with the USB cable and verify that it is discovered and installed on your system.

a.) Right click on My Computer
b.) Left click on Manage
c.) Left click on Device Manager
d.) Verify that the device is installed or that you don't have an Yellow Exclamation mark devices.

4.) Unplug the USB from the device
5.) Right click on the LiveSuite.exe and run as Administrator
6.) Click the first button in LiveSuite and browse to the firmware .IMG
7.) Hold the Volume + button while plugging in the USB cable
8.) Press the power button 6 to 10 times until the system discovers the device and LiveSuite prompts you
9.) Choose whether you want to format the device or just upgrade the device
10.) Let the magic happen
11.) Tablet should reboot itself when the update is completed

After installation, please follow these directions to get it switched over to English.

1) Hit the blue button in the first screen that comes up
2) Go to Settings --> Icon with the A --> Click the top field/option and set the language
3) In the same language area, change the default keyboard to English (US) - Android Keyboard
4) Go to Settings --> Apps: Click on and uninstall anything you don't want/need under Downloaded
5) Go to All and do the same only hitting disable this time (basically anything with Chinese Characters and QQ etc..)

There is a special SuperScript I developed that contains ROOT, Market, Build.Prop, & Tweaks for the Stock firmware.
- [Script] - Gemei G9 - STOCK - Tasselhof - ROOT, Market, Build.Prop & Tweaks SuperScript

- PLEASE NOTE -

This firmware does not have the Android Market app pre-installed.
It can be easily added using my script though and it works fine after.

If you prefer to have only a ROOT option, you can use the script below... just know that this is included in the script above as well.

The script was original developed for the Transformer tablet and ICS... I have found that it works on various devices with ICS when my own personal script fails.
- Download Link: AndroidTabletFirmware.com - MOMO11bird-Firmware-GemeiG9-SpecialRoot-ICS.rar

Instructions:

1) Download the File
2) Extract the contents to a folder
3) Connect your tablet to the PC with USB
4) Click on runme.bat

Watch the magic and wait for it to tell you it is done.

The system will reboot a couple times.

Well it turns out that this was Baseband version 4.10 from 21020323 which I already had
I'll try to work with it and get Flash working.

Cheers,
Sean

I got flash working by doing the following. (You will need root access)

Open Settings --> Apps
Click on All and force stop and disable the Adobe Flash.

Open up ES File Explorer and make sure you have enabled System level (root) access in the settings.
Then browse to /system/app and delete the Adobe Flash in there.

Open up the Market and download the latest Flash.

You may also want to download Dolphin Browser HD or Opera Browser (generally better flash support)

Now reboot the tablet.

Open either browser and change the settings to enable Flash and Desktop view mode.

You should now be good to go.

Hope that Helps!

Tasselhof

Enjoy your new OS!

I am unable to complete the ICS firmware download from ATF :(. I have tried over 10 times using 2 different wifi networks and the download keeps failing. I don't know if there is a problem because I don't have access to a hi-speed wifi network due to where I live so all that is available is 3g mobile hotspot or tethering from my EVO in 3G. Just to be sure I downloaded a few music cds to see if there are problems with my network and they completed fine, the largest was 116MB. Of my several attempts to download the firmware the most I've gotten before failing is 75MB. I even tried downloading firmware at the same time as a cd and the download stopped after 25MB while the cd completed downloading. Is it possible to mirror to a different site? Sorry to be a bother but I don't know what else to try :(

Mr. Tasselhof,

I am new to this forum and would like some information regarding the Gemei G9. Does the device come configured in English if I buy it from Merimobiles? Is the enclosed instruction manual only in Chinese?... I would like to buy a Gemei G9 but I am nervous about configuring the device if it is in Chinese.

I wouldn't be able to guarantee how it would ship from Merimobiles.
English is most likely, but if it is in Chinese, then it is a VERY simple fix.
You would just open the Settings, which there are multiple ways of doing it...
Scroll down to the icon with an A in it...
Click the first option to the right, then select your language.

The manual is in chinese, but they are never very informative anyways ;)

Hope that helps alleviate some concerns.

now I run momo 11 Bird fW on my Gemei G9
same hardware , diff software.

you can use livesuit to update it .
not like . you can reflash to G9 FW

but novo7 lcd is 1024*600 . Touch panel is not a version of the same.
5 point vs 10 point ,so screen can't show normal.

Thank You for your very quick reply. I ordered a Gemei G9 from Merimobiles yesterday. It does come configured in English. I expect to receive the tablet next week (week of March 19th). Looking forward to getting the device and to use your rooting instructions.

If anyone has problems with Google Calendar Sync, just copy this apk to system/app/ and remove the stock calendar.apk (back it up before). Reboot, done!
I'm wondering if someone has tun.ko modules to run VPN...

I have a momo11 bird version and I can confirm that I installed the gimei g9 ics and work like a charm. Same tablet, same hardware with different name :)
Before I asked for help but nobody helped me. Finally I fixed the momo11 by this way, because I installed already before other firmwares(included the latest firmware from ployer.cn website) and seems to be not working. So strange, the oficial firmware not working on my momo11 but g9 working fine.
This is the ugly true of the chinese tablets.
Mr. Tasselhof: try to upload your firmwares and scripts to another site. The ATF site cute the download and never let me to have a full firmware.

I will see if I can upload a copy of each to mediafire and post the link with the ATF one.

Hi brandonlee!

I experienced the same thing when downloading the firmware from MrTasselhof. You can try jdownloader (just google it and you'll find). It prevents from cutting off downloads and lets you pause and resume them.

I hope I could help you.

Based on Blubb0211 suggestion:
Here is a basic on as a suggestion/try: Download.com - Internet Download Manager

I am having difficulty with the site I am trying to use that will allow larger than 200mb files.
