While idling 99pad.com i found a new topic by symbean hinting there was something new for the M7S on szhaipad.com
well, it is a new Android 4.0 release
[original 115.com download link]
[Rapidshare Mirror]
Remember, this is for M7S, not m7, m7+, m7++, m7x
Voices are loud asking Symbean to port it to the M7, maybe someone here can beat him? ;)

In this form this will brick M7, M7+, M7++, M7X pads, they have a slightly different CPU!

//EDIT: slightly updated post by symbean (google translated and interpreted)

Update:
there are old problems doing a simple transplantation. The touch screen does not work, the launcher force closes, this should be the gpu not working (I do not know if this is not a problem of my transplant).

I estimate that due to commercial considerations, this official released firmware is not compatible with m7/m7+/m7++. in Fact, m7s firmware compatibility is very simple, nothing more than a few driver the differences, for the time being do not count on official firmware, count on the the current custom m7/m7+/m7++ firmware, and look forward to it!

//EDIT: added rapidshare mirror

What Symbean means in the last line is:
"... for the time being do not expect much from the official firmware porting to M7, for currently there are foreign masters working on m7/m7 + / m7 + + 's 4.0 firmware, we should be looking forward to it instead! "

'foreign masters' of course refers to developers in Slatedroid!!! :good: :good: :good:

aaah, i was not sure about the google translation and opted for 'developers not related to the manufacturer' or something like that '^^
as said i tried to interpret the google translation so it made a little more sense to me but this is a nice gesture of symbean!

I got it downloaded, Kernel works good. Need to somehow get touchscreen and WIFI working with this.
Anybody here can recompile these modules? At-least anybody can help it recompile?

Sidd, dude... we need the sources to compile the kernel modules...

I've tried Violet's drivers and it doesnt work. I've also attempted reverse-engineering the module, which too compiles and loads but causes kernel panic when requesting GPIO 0x95 (GPIO 0x93 is successfully acquired). Both of them are needed to operate the touchscreen. Seems like the newer kernels (newer 2.6.35.7 ones, not 3.0.8 ) do not work with our own drivers (or Violet's driver, which was working at some point).

@namko: Can this help us out somewhat? at least GPU with old kernel?
http://com.odroid.co...ist.php?bid=114

This device uses same CPU and GPU but they use GPU code from Nexus kernel and recompiled it.
The link gives all steps for porting Android 4.0.3 with kernel 2.6.35 on ODROID-7

It would help if we were to make a new PowerVR module for 2.6.35.7 and if that would override the old one defined in the existing kernel. However, we cannot follow the guide as is because it assumes we have kernel sources (we dont; Asure's kernel doesn't work on my tab, some issues)

True. But Mango210 too is a similar board and yet Asure needed quite a lot of work to get it working with our tablets (not to mention the tablet HW modification to get debugging output).
