im so very unlucky to receive a aurora with a faulty accelerometer T_T, is there a tweak on how to calibrate it, i've done alot of faqs on some forums and here still no luck, i think its a hardware defect not a firmware coz i've tried to reflash it into 4.02 clean and 4.03 even the stock firmware and the GB 2.3.4 by feiyu , and in the DISPLAY > ACCELEROMETER still having the same issue, i can't play those racing games or games that requires accelero sensor. heheheh, is there anybody here who experience this thing?

Does it work at least? or whats is the problem with your device, because i have an xperia play that doesnt have a very well calibrated accelerometer, i have to tilt it a little to be in an equilibrate position, and its not a matter of the firmware, there is no option to calibrate it, but maybe you can calibrate it within the auroas os. saludos

I cannot confirm, as I don't have mine yet, but during my reading I think I remember hearing something about the steering being reversed when playing racing games. You'd need to go into settings and change them apparently.

Now if yours is detecting the correct direction, but just not responding, well that's a different problem and I can't help you there.

Edit: Looking at your pics that does seem way off. Would be nice if more people with units posted to see how common this is. And you said recalibrating doesn't work?

I also have this problem. Just assumed it was a software issue, patiently waiting for a mature build to be released of ICS.

thanks for the reply, i've try to calibrate it on the settings of some games i've played on, some games does not have calibration settings, to align it. example on NEED FOR SPEED SHIFT, when im positioning the aurora into horizontal position the steering wheels is turn into left steering so i just need to re angle my position to align it. i've test it also using xclinometer ,sensors test still no luck.

Hi - just got aurora and have exactly the same issue with G sensor, getting about the same readings as op.....

Also seems to be a minor fault with camera - it pictures are flipped vertically? eg text is displayed backwards, anyone else with an aurora have the same fault...

Otherwise brilliant bit of kit, wifi connection 100 times better than novo7 basic - no drops at all, and screen very good.

Same problem with the G sensor here. Hope it`s a software problem and will be corrected in the highly anticipated 0.9 firmware.

It's supposed to be a firmware bug - Ainol is still waiting for proper drivers for the accelerometer. Once they get it, they can release a fixed firmware.

Okay, I checked it with xclinometer again and it DOES have deviation from normal.
In horizontal position, instead of showing something very very close to 90 degrees, it shows 77-78 degrees. THAT'S the reason games can't be played with efficiency which require accelerometer.
Do you guys think it's a firmware defect ?
Or is there ANYONE who has something close to 90 degrees when they use Xclinometer ? It's a free app on Market. Please check it & post here so that some of us can know definitely that's it's a hardware defect & not firmware. :)

Mine is miles off I get a reading of 10 lol

I used pro version of Xclinometer which can calibrate accelerometer and it DID make it better. But still not perfect, though I've to tilt it much less now than before to play games normally, though still such tilting shouldn't be required.
Example, when I'm playing doodle jump (just to check btw; not really a fan. :D ), and if I just keep the screen stagnant; in normal situation, it should keep jumping straight up, but due to accelerometer problem, it deviates very little & keeps going in right direction little by little, but if I keep my device titled by a certain angle towards left side while playing, then that equates for the accelerometer defect.

Therefore I think it's a firmware problem; perhaps drivers suck !!
I'm still not putting and setting up my Aurora as the way I would if it had a stable version with no problems as an Official Ainol release is around the corner. Perhaps a week or so, and hopefully that would solve all our problems; with resistant touch experience where you have to press harder than normal, or accelerometer problem and ofcourse navigation bar to hide on games too.

I guess everyone has been to settings/display/accelerometer coordinate system/default coordinate system. And set this!

Hehe, that's just something u'll always need to change depending on different games as some require the 2nd option which is present there. :p Not a solution for angle deviation present in the accelerometer. I think that's a driver problem.

Yep ha just a thought! Mine is off by at least 20 degrees!

I'm only 3-4 degrees out on both axis (assuming my floor is level). I haven't tried any games though.
I would suggest someone to try playing some game which requires accelerometer in simplest way to check it; such as Doodle Jump - if u hold it in straight position in front of you, then that "doodle" creature should keep jumping straight up without any deviation. That would let us know if many people are having this defect or is it just few unlucky ones. <img src='http://www.slatedroid.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smiley.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I've tried jump now (doodle jump wasn't free) which seems the same. Initially it played wrong, so I changed the accelerometer setting to special and then it played smoothly.

Didn't see this thread before... I have the same problem... still have it with v0.6 of the Essentials ROM and have tried the special/default coordinate settings.

Anyone had any luck fixing it yet or know of a fix coming? Or is it a hardware issue and we should be sending them back?

I've got the same problem as well. Pretty much the first thing I did after getting the tablet was turn off auto-rotate because it was unusable.
Let's hope that it can be fixed.

I read on a different forum that others with faulty accelerometer's did this and it helped:

mount /data
rm /data/misc/akmd* /data/misc/rild*
reboot

Don't have my Aurora atm so I can't try it.
