Okay i'm trying to flash my Elf to 2.3.4 stock firmware and for some reason Livesuit doesn't want to cooperate. I've installed the andriod ADB drivers successfully but when i try to flash the driver by pressing the menu and power button 6 times which installs another driver that's identical to the one livesuit creates. It duplicates the driver leaving one installed and the other with an yellow exclaimation mark. No idea how to install that driver. Livesuit just ends up not responding and freezes for a longtime untill i take out the usb cord. I've tried on 3 different computers. Anything i'm doing wrong?

Sounds like you are not following directions and doing everything wrong. RTFM

Run LiveSuit
- Select to Format
- When requested point to the uncompressed image file

4. Initiate the restore process:
- power off the Aurora
- press and hold the "back" button
- connect the usb cable to the Aurora
- while still holding the "back" button press "power" button rapidly, 15 times until menu disappears from the screen
- wait for the driver to be detected, the first time you do this it will install the drivers and can take some time
- LiveSuit will pop up and ask questions, hit "yes" to both

Seems that i fixed it by not running livesuit at first and installing ALL the drivers at the start. I did another fresh install and after i installed the ADB andriod drivers i turned my ELF off and did the hold down menu and pressed the power button rapidly trick and the driver installed as usual. Then ran livesuit for the first time without it creating a driver with a yellow exclamation mark. Then pulled out the usb cord and held down menu then pressed powerbutton 5 times and it worked as it should. I'm pretty sure i didn't see any guide or thread with the same issue i was having about the duplicated drivers.

Well, duplicated drivers are not livesuit problem but it is just general PC problem/installation. A general pc rule "drivers always should be installed prior running any software that requires the device"

I have tried to run LiveSuit in both WindowsXP and Windows7 and get the same thing. In both versions I have my Elf driver loaded and shows up in my devices as "Android ADB Interface". When I run LiveSuit.exe, select the img file and run SystemUpdate I get the following message.

---------------------------
LiveSuit
---------------------------
No device that need to update !
---------------------------
OK

Hi Lushay,
I'm having the exact problem with the duplicated drivers. So i was glad to see your fix and i have been trying to get that right all day today. But without much luck i'm afraid. I installed the driver with the menu and power button trick. But when i subsequently ran livesuit, it kept installing the driver with the exclamation mark right over the one i had previously installed. I also tried an installation of livesuit without installing the driver with the live suite installer exe file, but then livesuit simply does not run. In that case it says the drivers aren't installed. So apparently livesuit only seems to recognise the driver it installs itself. But in the end it will probably be something i'm doing wrong myself. So if i don't get this fixed i will be permanently stuck with my instable ics version.

Would you be prepared to post a step by step walkthrough here of what you did to fix the duplicate driver problem. It would be a tremendous help to me and maybe others as well.

Best regards,
AdmAckbar

First what i did was use USBDeview(you have find it somewhere around these forums) to
uninstall all the drivers the elf installed. Andriod ADB drivers and the USB
Device(Vid_1f3a_POD_efe8) and restart your computer. Go to your control panel>Systems>Device
manager and make sure you do not see Vid_1f3a_POD_efe8 anywhere. DO NOT RUN LIVESUIT UNTILL
VERY END. Livesuit installs a driver which seems to cause that problem oddly.

plug in your tablet while it's powered on so that you can install the Andriod ADB drivers
and when that's installed turn the tablet off and hold down the menu button and then plug it
into your computer and imediately begin press the power button 5 or 6 times rapidly and you
should see the tablet begin to install the Vid_1f3a_POD_efe8 driver. just click next and it
should install on its own. Check the device manager again and to make sure their is only one
driver install for Vid_1f3a_POD_efe8 with no yellow exclamation mark.

Keep the tablet plugged it while it's off and begin to run livesuit. After you selected your
IMG file click next and then finish. take out your usb cord from the tablet's end and then
hold down your menu button and plug it back in and begin to press the power button rapidly 5
or 6 times. if another driver tries to install that's okay. afterwards the flash message
should appear and press yes twice and it should begin to install.

Hope this helps

@Lushay

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your explanation, Lushay! This already looks a lot better then what I did yesterday and I will try doing this tonight.

One more question though. The live suite pack I have came as a exe-file, with a name like "Live_Suite_V1.07_Pack.exe" or something like that. Running that file unpacks a bunch of live suite files (the actual programm files). And it is at that stage (so while unpacking "Live_Suite_V1.07_Pack.exe") that live suite tries to install the faulty driver. And I can only avoid installing this driver at that point by explicitly denying to install it in the dialog frame that pops up at that point. Then, when I subsequently run the actual program file "livesuite.exe", it says it can`t run the program because there are no drivers installed. (But of course I did not have the elf still prugged in at that point, so maybe that makes the difference).

So what do you mean exactly with "run live suite for the first time"? Is that running the "Live_Suite_V1.07_Pack.exe" file or "livesuite.exe"? And if it is the latter, how did you pass te stage when Live_Suite_V1.07_Pack.exe tries to install the faulty driver?

Again many many thanks for your great help!

@Lushay

-----UPDATE-----

Hi Lushay, I guess I mastered the procedure now!! (YES!)

I followed your instructions to the letter and I ran Livesuite.exe after installation of both the ADB driver and the device driver (the latter by menu and powerbutton trick). Live Suite opened as it should and there are no duplicate drivers or yellow exclamation marks any more.

I have not yet flashed my elf yet, because I might try the modified ICS 4.0.3. first instead of the 2.3.4. (still thinking about that). But I guess things will work fine as of this point.

So here is a really big thank you for your instructions. I could not have gotten this right so fast by myself.

Hi

I'm new here. I've just bought a Aurora and try to flash it with ICS 4.0.3 because it hangs. I encountered somewhat similar problem. When I followed the steps given to run livesuit.exe and selected the image file, I held the tablet 'back' button and connect the USB to my PC, immediately a dialog box with yellow exclamation comes out. Did I miss anything?

Regards
Terence

I have a problem with mounting the Elf as USB storage. Whenever I try to Windows says that the device isn't recognised, that is if I even get it to connect, most of the time when I connect it nothing happenes on the tablet, but it's charging.

I thought I would post this in case its helpful for anyone else with trouble flashing. I am a Linux user. So I picked my oldest PC to install windows XP for flashing my elf. After spending all night banging my head, I tried a different computer and it worked immediately. They were both running the same install of windows xp. The older PC had usb 1.0 ports and simply would not work. I would recommend flashing from a PC with usb 2.0. If you get a message like "this device can perform faster", thats your queue.
