Do you mean when it's plugged in the touchscreen senses touches randomly and not where you are pressing?
I've only had my device for a few days.. but mine also seems to do it!!
I'm assuming its some kind of grounding issue, causing the capacitive screen not to work.. But I'm really not sure.
I had this happen to my ELF a couple months ago. I was leaving my ELF on the passenger seat and forgot about it. I was picking up meals and tossed them on it without noticing. Even though it was in a leather case it still caused the problems you guys have. I figured it was a hardware problem and something shorting. Opened the case very carefully with a butter knife. A flat cable came off when doing this, but was easy to put back in. I noticed the screen is backed by some kind of metal. So I just went about using some of my wife's clear packing tape and made sure nothing had a chance to short. I just put the tape over the circuit areas and also made sure to get some above the speaker. That was another problem I had with the ELF from the beginning. The volume would go up and down with just holding the back in different places. After I put the flat cable back in and taped it down and did the rest to insulate it I put it all back together. I have not had any problems with the speaker since. The thing going crazy with presses all over the screen was fixed also. Since then I feel I have one very solid performer with the ELF.
There is a thread on here on how to carefully take one of these apart. Please do NOT blame me if something goes wrong. I am just telling you what I did to fix things.
