IMPORTANT :
The new android-kun Rom format is in ClockworkMod.

I don't have enough knowledge in ClockworkMod to play with those.

So it's the end of the road for my android-kun repacked Roms.

I just hope somebody will take the lead to convert those Aurora ClockworkMod from android-kun and convert them for the Elf!

All the credit goes to android-kun for making this amazing Clean ROM for the Aurora!

Please see his post for details:

Excellent - thanks very much for this.

Can anyone assist - does Livesuit allow me to save an image of my current rom?

Thanks Koalnivj

Will appreciate if anyone can give some feedback about battery life (standby times "deep sleep" as well as operational times when being used).

Is the battery as good as the stock roms and how does it compare to Androind 2.3.4?

Thanks

I am not sure about whether livesuit can help to backup roms but under Android 4, you can install unofficial clockwork recovery. You can access clockwork recovery menu by pressing down the menu + return + power during startup.

To Navigaate your way around clockwork recovery menu, press the return button while holding down the menu button. Select with power button. Inside clockwork recovery menu screen, there is an option to back up your current rom to your internal storage area. If you want to make sure you don't loose your backup rom, copy it over to your microsd or better to your laptop.

In fact, over at tabletrepublic forum, someone already made a backup of 4.01 orig rom and he has made it available for anyone who needs it.

As for 4.03 rom, ther is no need to backup because we can download it.

Is there another location for this file? Could someone put it on the site suggested in the sticky ? Nod will not let me download from Dev site and so far I haven't figured a way around it but still looking. Tried the Chinese site but was very slow and finally crapped out. Finally got by Eset too smart for its own good blocking and downloading now.

Interestingly. On the back cover of the ELF, most of us have in very small print the word aurora.

Yet, the main board of ELF and AURORA looks different although the components according to specifications are about the same.

What we don't need is the IPS screen drivers of the Aurora. I saw in the AURORA forum, many complaints about battery drainning problem.

I suspected from the beginning that the IPS is going to drain battery a bit.

So for me, it was a choice of super screen or battery life. Since I know i am going to need the Tablet to be ready for use the whole day, I chosed battery life over screen. I am very happy with the ELF's battery life and the screen, even without IPS was definitely better than any Tablets I have used before because of the higher resolution. If i had chosen the AUrora i would have spent a few hours enjoying the super screen but later I would be struggling to keep the tablet charged for my usage.

Anyway, out of topic. Regarding Aurora's roms and ELF's roms, if the drivers for IPS in Aurora's rom is removed, perhaps it will work with ELF.

Does this work for Elf seeing that it is in the Elf forum and not Aurora?

It has been modified for the elf.

@assy mcghee : I'm glad you like it!

Yes, this rom is compatible with the Elf Tablet (And The Elf Tablet ONLY!). I only gave the link to android-kun Topic for Details and to give him the Credit.

The download for the Novo 7 Elf Rom is at the end of my first post.

Basically, I only took the "software" part of android-kun Rom. The rest, drivers, bootloader, etc, was taken from the Official 4.0.3 Novo 7 ELF Rom.

Battery life should be the same as before on the Novo 7 Elf since the cuplrit (IPS screen) is out of the equation. (I'm just assuming, we need to do some test to confirm)

If somebody can point me out to the Original Novo 7 Elf 4.0.1 Rom, I can try to adapt it the same way... (With the 4.0.1 android-kun did)

Just picked up Aurora, will post the progress. Finding out that eBooks or PDFs don't work and apps are not in English, makes this forum invaluable.
Thank you

Just flash with Livesuit as you would do for the Original Ainol ones...

Enjoy!

This is the first time I have actually been excited (instead of hesitant) about trying out an Android 4.0 image. I am downloading right now. If the OS runs smoothly and battery life isn't atrocious then I will offer this up to customers as my first supported Android 4.0 image.

Cheers,

Roman

EDIT: So I booted this rom up. So far I have mixed feelings. A.) It is indeed VERY clean :)... thanks for that. and it also runs very CHUNKY as soon as you add like 2 widgets to the screen. I have a few ideas on how to fix this though...

First, I might try this launcher: http://www.slatedroi...er-for-elf-401/

Second, I know a hack for the build.prop that I came across when trying to get ICS to work on the Ployer Momo 9 that seemed to really help smooth out performance. Basically, I lowered the dalvik heap size to 32m and it seemed to really help. I will try that with this and see if it fixes the chunkiness. Still, this image is a big step forward. I still wouldn't say we are there yet but this is good. :)

Third, adding a task manager and see all what is running and what can be killed...

--------------------------

EDIT: STILL NOT SMOOTH :(... the only way to make it smooth is to have no apps or widgets on your homescreens... :( BAH! still the best ICS I have seen yet on one of these devices but unfortunately still not good enough for customers :(.
