Hi there again all,

wuf31 has requested a WiFi strength comparison test between some other tablets similar to this article:
http://m.androidcent...test-how-bad-it

I have chosen a sample pool of six tablets: (you can find specs using the links in my signature)
Ainol Novo 7 Aurora (running Android 4.0.1)
Ainol Novo 7 Advanced
Ramos W6HD
Herotab MID816R2
Wopad i8
HP Touchpad (Android Side)

The router I am using is:
Verizon FIOS - Actiontec MI424WR-GEN2 Hardware Version F
It is configured in B/G/N mode and located under my desk near the front/window wall.

Here is the layout of the router location and wireless test points:
Attached File  WiFiTest-1stFloor.jpg (129.44K)
Number of downloads: 181Attached File  WiFiTest-2ndFloor.jpg (71.27K)
Number of downloads: 332

I will set all the devices facing the same direction and spot for each point.

This should be enough data to get an accurate read on WiFi performance compared to other tablets.
If there is a specific tablet (from my list below) that you feel should be in the comparison, please let me know.

Results: (closer to zero is better)
Attached File  WiFiTest-Chart.jpg (102.76K)
Number of downloads: 411

Looking at the results and general performance the Ainol Novo 7 Aurora takes top marks in the "Chinese" tablets.
It was only beat by the "Retail" HP Touchpad which is also a 9.7" device and could potentially incorporate a larger antenna.

Hope this is helpful/answers some questions.

Thanks

Tasselhof

Good to know that Aurora's Wifi is a major improvement over N7A's wifi. :clapping:
With N7A, I had barely -75 dBm when the router was barely 5 feet away. <_<

Much better than I expected, you even draw a blueprint for your house LOL

Thanks a lot Tasselhof,

Now, if doesn't seem that you have the Elf on hand,
theoretically though since they are of same spec, they should perform more or less the same.

Thanks again & Cheers,

Jhon

PS: Still, as expected HP Touchpad beats the crap of chinese tablets, though great to know that Aurora beat the crap of its peers :D

great work! they are impressive results from the Aurora! I would of thought the N7A would of used the same wireless chipset?

Yes Technically the Elf should be nearly identical.

You have to remember though that the Advanced is a different case design and has thicker plastic I believe.
I different motherboard as well.

So even if they had the same chipset... the board and antenna are likely different... not to mention the case.

N7A - I was surprised it faired as well as it did. My input as a seller, the WiFi on the N7A actually would vary a fair bit from tablet to tablet. I had a few that I considered defective because the WiFi was so poor. It was very inconsistent. Most were okay/stable but the range was still not great. Ainol really addressed the biggest complaint I think with their devices and that was WiFi. I have the Elf on hand and WiFi is great :)

Cheers,

Roman

EDIT: N7A = Novo 7 Advanced

Nice job!!!

The Aurora & W6HD both had around similar results. It looks like big improvement over Advanced, i8 and 816R2. Very happy to see that Chinese are starting to make better WiFi reception on their tablets.
