Angstrom-v2 is up. Grab it before it gets taken offline like my other uploads hosted at woofiles. If anybody can upload to another file server it would be much appreciated. :)

Changes include:
Mounts androids /LocalDisk and put a shortcut on the desktop for easy access.
Auto-login now bypasses GDM for a little quicker boot to desktop.
Added some busybox replacements so things like fdisk, cfdisk, etc work the way they should.
Added ewoc-cli wireless connection script in case network-manager fails.
Samba installed to access network shares.
Replaced matchbox-keyboard with xkbd.
Touch screen is now enabled, and does indeed work, but....i'm having a hard time calibrating it. I'll let the tablet users google for answers on evdev+touch screen and hopefully somebody can figure it out.
Nand tools (flash_eraseall etc) added for when the time comes to actually try flashing to nand.
And probably a few other little things im forgetting.

Download #1: wm8650AngstromGnomev2.tar.bz2 (230mb)
Mirror #2: (none yet)
Mirror #3: (none yet)

Cheers.

Well cfdisk is installed if you need a partition utility. Not quite sure I understand the second part of your question though.

Hello all :)

Just been trying the angstrom distro (downloaded from here ) -- someone there has split the file across 3 seperate files, that's the one I downloaded. However try as I might I cannot get the wifi on my device (a WM8650, the screen size is (I think) a 7") netbook *not* a tablet). The wifi chip identifies as follows (from lsusb);

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 148f:5370 Ralink Technology, Corp.

After poking around on the internet this device is apparently (at least according to a google search) an Ralink 5370 device. I'm guessing inside the netbook it isn't onboard but has been in some way connected to an internal USB port.

On the link above it mentions about copying a file called rt3070.ko from andrioid. Only snag is I don't have any such file on the android install on my machine. The closest I could find was "rt3070sta_rt5370.ko" though the angstrom distro already appears to have this. Modprobing this didn't work; no sign of ra0. BTW Here's a list of the modules from android on my machine;

I would try copying off the android kernel from my own WM8650 netbook but I don't know where that would be located in android.

Same as me:
cd /lib/modules/2.6.32.9-default
modprobe -r rt3070sta
rm rt3070sta.ko
mv rt3070sta_rt5370.ko rt3070sta.ko
modprobe rt3070sta.ko

There you are, just dont remember is that is the right folder (the 2.6 one)

I think the repo feeds are limited to armv4.
Won't it be possible to use armv5 binaries instead of armv4 in the opkg feeds since wm8650 is armv5te?

Here's another mirror for v2. It has some nice features over v1 for those of you using v1 yet.
http://depositfiles....files/e99m5pwy7

@piloteer: It was built for armv4 so i can use it on a variety of arm devices. Trying to use armv5 binaries might work if you satisfy the dependencies. I wouldn't suggest adding the armv5 feeds to opkg as it will more than likely eventually hose the system. You can try it though. If it breaks just wipe the card and start over.

@maestrodan: cfdisk has a curses UI. It's really easy to use in my opinion.

@ljones: Try v2 (you're using v1) and if all else fails try netomx's suggestion.

Cheers

Thanks for the codes. After having made the mod, it did "wake up" the wireless on the CLP281 so that I can see now my network. However, it doesn't seem to connect even after several attempts and even though I desactivate all the security settings on the router (WEP, MAC filter and hidden SSID).

Is there any other things that could be done ?

The CLP281 also has a RJ45 plug at the back for wired connexions which doesn't work either with Angstrom.

I've been working on this for a few weeks now and i have to say i think it turned out well. I put together a nice Angstrom compatible rootfs.

Thank you, "wicknix," for your work on this distribution. It's working GREAT on my Mini PC and I look forward to learning more about it so I can contribute too. :clapping:

Sincerely,
- Bill

You can try to copy rt3070sta.ko from your Android ROM. I think it is written in the README file included.
I also own CLP281, and that worked for me. I can connect wireless without any issues.

By the way, it is off-topic but how did you get windows CE working on CLP281? Mine just went into infinite reboots when I tried to install the ROM from SlateDroid.

I did put the only working wifi driver (among 5 of them) and changed the name to rt3070.ko. The only way I get the wifi connect is to shut down wpa_supplicant by typing:

# start-stop-daemon -K -n wpa_supplicant

It's getting tiresome to do that each time. I think the CLP281 is pleagued by a constant change of cheap hardware components. That's why we get variable results with the firmwares. For the Windows CE, I simply installed the firmware downloaded from INOVAXION's site. It's a french system though. I didn't try the one from Slatedroid.

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a tablet to install linux.
I found this forum, and I wanna know if I can use this image on this tablet:
http://chinagrabber....b---pc-136.aspx
Or if someone you recommend some other (and cheaper) for me to enjoy myself.
I wanna know too if anyone has tested GPS and 3G in this image, using linux.
