So same weight as teg's - I guess that makes it more likely that he just got a bad battery, rather than Ainol having started fitting different ones.

True. Just weird that some people have very good batteries while other have total crap. Ant this is basically the same batch of tablets!

Another question, MrTasselhof: how does the battery connect? Is there special type of connector?

Well... if we go to the pictures I posted...
It is soldered to the board.
Which is pretty much standard for all of the Chinese tablets I have dismantled.

There were a few (quality ones, for 350-400$) what had simple 3pin connectors for the battery, but those were crappy for the price :(

I register just to read your great post.

I decided to buy one Ainol, do you know the other models? If yes, do you think that this is the best of them all?

Will do do the video?

Thank you one more time for your work!

The Aurora is the clearly top of the heap for the Ainol tablets in the wild today.

Hi All!

I've allready ordered my Aurora for my wife. She is pregnant, and i want to surprise her with this tablet. I don't only want to let her use as a tablet, but as an "extension" of a LED TV as well, like those so-called android tv-boxes.

It will be connected to the TV sometimes, and i'm searching for some kind of remote controller (wireless keyboard?) for it.
I know that this beauty doesn't have bluetooth, but maybe i can connect a wireless (radio) keyboard or mini keyboard like this: http://www.alibaba.c...s_Keyboard.html . If it's possible, my wife (and me of course) could have a good tablet, and an android tv-box.

Did you tried to connect such devices to your Aurora? Do you have maybe some experiences with such wireless solutions?

If i don't find a suitable combination, i will use DroidMote over WiFi. The tablet as DroidMote-server and our android-phones as clients.

Thank you in advance!

Koko

I havent learned enough about linux yet to be of much help. But i did find this link hopefully it will allow someone with more knowledge to access bluetooth for our devices? IM more of a harware hacker anyway. http://rhombus-tech....kernel_compile/ When i recieve mine ill do a teardown as well and see if we can solder in a bt connection internally.

Okay so, when my aurora is turned off (sleep mode), I notice that every couple minutes it'll make a sound that "sounds" like i pressed the power button. (When you are in sleep mode, press the power button and you'll hear a small noise.) Well I constantly hear that every couple minutes. However, when I am using it, I don't hear it. Every time I hear that noise, I check it and notice that the screen isn't on or anything. It gets really annoying when it's quiet and that's all you hear. Has anyone else had this problem?

So to get a car charger for this it must be a 12V Cigarette to USB that Outputs 5V and 2A's? Like this or this?

Yes...they would work, although the second one has the wrong cable.

You can use the cable that came with the Aurora....

I wouldn't bother buying from China (unless you live there of course). There's many on ###########.....

The only reason i would buy from pandawill is bc i would have reward points. I searched on ########### for a 2Amp with 5V from a U.S. seller. about the same price
