Is it a big enough difference to notice though? I have also decided and have placed my order with Gadgetfreakz for the Aurora and a case :yahoo: 8) so I shall look forward to it. What swung me was the potential for a 1.2GHZ speed, the 1gb of ram, the Wireless N and USB charging, and the IPS screen.

Do I need to charge the device before use for 24hrs or anything?

Charging etc.. is up to you... I ran mine out of the box as I am sure most people do.
The speed change definately helps. Tack on the On-Dmand setting change and you also get a LOT longer battery life.

Personally I don't see any difference in increasing CPU speed unless the application needs more power. If applications is already running smooth at stock speed then you won't see any difference at all increasing CPU speed. All you will notice higher battery drain. I would suggest to use Tasker program which is great so for example one of your games needs more CPU speed then you can set Tasker when you start that particular game, CPU speed will increase, and once you close the game, the speed will go back to default. Also you can lower CPU speed, for example reading ebooks when you don't need a lot of CPU power.

Question here-all kinds of names are thrown around for the processor on the Aurora.

A8, Many CORE A10 and so on.

I check with CPU Control and it lists as a ARMv7 Processor rev 2(v71)

I was wondering what anyone else has come up with.

Thanks

Staff would like to first thank everyone for that great job you guys have been doing over this tablet. Actually I would create another topic but it seems not have permission.
is my impression or the aurora has much lag? especially when opening the menu and move it.
compare these two videos and tell me if I'm right, I know the resolution of the aurora is much bigger but to make it a better processor and double the ram memory.
Actually what I read out there is that the paladin at some points is well above the aurora, among them the system speed and duration of the battery, see

Paladin

aurora

what do you think? I see that compared with the paladin that theoretically would be the most basic of all.

Hi, I just got my aurora yesterday. Everything's great but for some reason I can't seem to play Shadowgun. Upon choosing the difficulty after starting a new game, it just closes. Aside from that, I can't launch Dead Space; won't download the additional resources. Any advice?

Try tapping on the screen constantly until you get to the actual gameplay.
If it doesn't load at all... then I am not sure as you can see in my video it ran for me.

First off thanks to everyone who's been answering questions in here.

Do emulators run well on the Aurora? I've ordered one, and want to re-play all the old games I've had in the past. Would be great to plug in a gamepad with HDMI-out to my TV! I'm interested in SNES, NES, GBA and PS1 emulation.
Did anyone ever have a chance to try out emulators? The idea of playing my childhood favourites on a TV again makes me happy :)

I find the camera on my Aurora to be VERY dark, to the point where even changing the brightness setting to +4 on the camera is still not bright enough (despite the fact I am in a room with a 60watt bulb directly overhead and in front of my dual monitor setup).
I follow some photography as well and I can tell you that in photography terms 1 60 watt bulb and a couple monitors is considered poor light even if you had a professional DSLR. You can't expect much from a tiny webcam with an aperture that's only a couple mm wide.

HELLO - MESSAGE ABOUT THE PROBLEM OF THE STATUT BAR.

Message for you Mr Tasselhof, for Android-Kun , Dr Martin, Almaz or everyone who can change something in a Rom !

First, Thank you for your great work everybody !

So, I think, I'm not the only one who's thinking that the statut bar who don't hide is a big problem to see movie, specially 4/3 movie or simply to play a game !

My sun who like to play with fruit ninja always goes in the settings ...

This problem is the same in the most popular, powerful but also the more expensive tablet with ICS, ASUS Transformer Prime !

When I receive the aurora on 4.0.1 , the full screen was OK, but no acces to the statut bar during a game or a movie.

With 4.0.3, it's worst, this bar is always there !!!

I didn't understand because one week before receiving the aurora, I received the Ainol Novo7 Paladin for my wife, and with this tablet, without any changes to the Rom (official Rom 4.0.1 of Ainol), the games, the movies ... are FULL SCREEN !

When playing a game or a movie, you have just to swipe with your finger from bottom to top of the screen to make appear the statut bar !

It's so simple ! and you have a real full screen !

I put a demonstration vidéo in attachments (sorry for the quality)

So, the first, the cheapest tablet on the market with ICS is able to do things that the best model of Ainol and the best android tablet (the prime) are unable to do !!

I hope that this informations will give you guys, the opportunity (with your knowledge) to make "THE PERFECT ROM" for our Aurora !!!

Thanks in advance for all your work !!
:D

Any comments on the build quality? I'd hate to blow nearly $200 on a tablet that's not going to last very long thanks to shoddy Chinese manufacturing.

Can anyone verify that their internal SD card slot reader functions correctly?

I have a 8GB black Aurora running ICS 4.0.1 and used the tasselhof and lordsbm scripts. I'm using an 8GB TF SD card. When I insert it, nothing happens (no messages). My phone can read it. When I go to Settings:Storage, nothing shows up except an area to mount an external SD card that is grayed out. Clicking in that area does nothing. I have an /mnt/sd directory which contains the 8GB of factory RAM. I have an /mnt/extsd directory that says empty folder when I go to it.

After inserting an SD card into the slot, I'm guessing that when I go to Settings:Storage, I should see that extsd has been mounted and I should see the amount of available storage. Correct? If you have an internal SD card reader that works, please tell me what I should see in Settings:Storage.

I have had no issues with the external SD.
I have put many different size, model, and speed cards in my various testing/shifting between tablets... everything has read normally.
You may want to try formatting the SD card first using the HP USB Drive formatting tool.
