Possible way to avoid the below steps.
It appears there is an updated firmware that comes with the market!

Proceed at your own risk.

So I have been waiting for an updated firmware for the W6HD that includes the market... so far no luck..
I decided to take my limited knowledge and various resources from past experiences and see if I could get the market installed and working.

I am pleased to say that I have a working market!

First thing to do is to get the Ramos W6HD ROOTED!
- I did a general search for rooting ICS and found this youtube video/description.
- I figured it was worth a shot and wouldn't you know it... it works! so the device can be rooted.

http://www.google.co...ZH54jRJe7OtygpA
Download Link for Files!
- you will have to overall ignore the guy in the video... not very funny, but he tries...

Next comes the more difficult/involved part.
The Ramos system won't allow files to be copied to the system/app partition directly from the computer... so here is what I did.
I connected the device VIA USB and enabled USB Debugging Mode.
I installed ES File Explorer and enabled ROOT access in the settings, then mounted the system directory.
- APK can be found here: Dropbox.com - ES File Explorer APK
- My APK installer script can be found here: Dropbox.com - Tasselhof APK Autoinstaller

The next thing you will need are the Google System Apps and Market APK's
- I downloaded the Lordsbm ICS Script from the Ainol Novo 7 site.
- Link can be found here: Lordsbm - Root Script and System APK's

After extracting the files, I copied the ICS/s4 directory on to an external SD card.
On the device itself I opened ES File Explorer.
I copied the following files from the S4 folder to the System/Apps folder on the device.
- GoogleLoginService.apk
- GoogleServicesFramework.apk
- Vending.apk

I then clicked on Vending.apk and installed.

Next I rebooted the system.

Then I opened the market app and was pompted to input my good credentials.
Then I had market access!!!

Hopefully this will get a bit more streamlined/refined... but those are the steps I took.

Tasselhof

<BR>

Alternate/Simplified Instructions
Basically this is the same process as above... I have just consolidated all of the required files to one download.
Mediafire.com - Download Link - Needed Files and Instructions

- Alternate Link - Download Link - Needed Files and Instructions

Ensure USB Debugging is enabled on the tablet.
Connect the Tablet to the Computer using a MicroUSB cable.

While the tablet is booted double click on runme.bat in the 01 - ICS -

Transformer Root folder.
- System will reboot 3 times.
- System is now rooted

Once the system is fully booted, run !APK Auto Install Script.bat in the 02 -

Tasselhof-APK-AutoInstaller folder.
- This will install ES File Explorer

Once ES File Explorer is installed, open it in the tablet and go to settings.
- Enabled ROOT access
- Mount the System partition as RW

Copy the 03 - ICS - System APK Apps folder to an external microSD card or the

internal tablet drive.

In ES File Explorer browse to the 03 - ICS - System APK Apps folder.
Copy these 3 files 1 by 1 to the System/App folder on the tablet
- GoogleLoginService.apk
- GoogleServicesFramework.apk
- Vending.apk

Click on Vending.APK and install.

Reboot the tablet.

Now try to open the Android Market app and it should prompt for Google login

information.

You should now have access to the Android Market!

Enjoy!

Quite simple. It's more complicated and earns you a outdated ICS. :D
You could just install sundreams 4.03 ICS really... has root out of the box aswell as market.

Who found sundreams 4.03 ICS, on which he based the official firmware? There is support for 3G modems?

Can you post a link to the forum?
The only firmwares I have seen were on Ramos website.

Thanks!

It's very simply... I just did it... so now I can take a back up using Titanium... and then I will upgrade my Rammos using 20120112 and 20120115...

:-)

P.S. can I ask something... In order to install (upgrade process) 20120115 in Ramos W6HD... do I have to install first 20120112??? (I have 20111228 firmware)

We speak different languages. And sometimes each other do not understand. Leave your "shtetl" manners, and let's make a common cause.
For all.

Just one question. My tablet is still flying. Can it all be done before insertion. Insert all the programming in entered into it without dancing. Just add to your programs, folders, where they lie, and reflash. And Root, and everything else. Thank you.

Been using the sundream roms for a while...
For simplicity I've mirrored them at http://coldbird.free.fr/w6hd .

First install the 20010112 one like any other Ramos update, it will install the image plus a new recovery.

Then grab the 20120115 one and copy the zip (without unpacking) onto the sd card... Then take the card out of your Ramos and shut it down.

Reboot it with the sd card still out and keep the power and menu button pressed while booting.

Once the recovery booted insert the sd card back into your device and choose to install a sd card zip.

The only change from 12 to 15 is in different mount points though...
Unlike the 12 one it mounts the internal memory as sd card instead of the external one...

No, there are no side effects to that.

The only reason I said to install the 12 one before is to make the necessary preparations for installing 15.

If you were able to provide the installation pre-requisites on your own then that works too of course.

Thanks for the great instructions, Coldbird. I just received my W6HD a week ago, but decided to upgrade the firmware. I installed the 20120112 firmware first followed by the 20120115. It went alright until I booted the tablet for the first time and got a screen that was in Chinese. Through trial and error I managed to locate the menu to choose English and from then on it was simple. Most all my apps work and of course there's Google Market now. I do have one question, though. An icon appears on the main screen (it looks like a little green android). When I click it, it states that the app is not installed. Do we know what it's for? Thanks again for the help.

You are welcome... but this sundream guy... he is a bit ahead of me...

You see guys... the reason we didn't see custom roms for Ramos W6HD before is a simple one...

A locked recovery.

In our case its the e3 recovery... if it was e2... we could easily do something about it by hotswapping it for cwm...

The e3 one uses a custom certificate for sign-checking the update.zips... and that sundream guy somehow managed to dump the /res/keys storage to grab the certificate and sign his own updates.

I myself am working on a 4.01 full rooted + market rom here... dumped the recovery and started disassembling it using IDA.

I found the functions that check the update signatures and thought that maybe if I hotswapped the recovery for a slightly modified one... with the signature check dummied out... that could work...

However... the storage where the recovery is stored seems to be read only, even with full root permissions... sadly... I don't know how I could grab the /res/keys storage without adding a own recovery on my own to output the certificate for me...

Be it via screen or serial output over usb...

Either way... if someones interested and wants to help me in figuring this thing out a bit more, hopefully leading to cwm on Ramos W6HD and that in turn for more custom roms, just drop me a PM.

I still feel like beating sundream up for not removing the last-flash utc epoch check in his updates... making it impossible to downgrade firmwares to older revisions...

Interesting news!

In that case I think I will hold off upgrading to 20120112, and use this Tasselhof's method to get market access. I'd managed to get gmail/maps/talk working without root, but the market was still unhappy! Good to see I don't have to spend days trying to figure it all out myself (and that we have several people with the W6HD who know what the are doing!)

Looking forward to hearing about Custom Recovery progress!

It also happen to my friend. His Ramos suddenly turn off and can't power on anymore. Just open your Ramos back case and put it again. This time try to loosen up the screw near DC Power. It make his Ramos comeback to live. Maybe Ramos can't handle some heat. Hopefully this can help you.

After i flashed my device with 20120112 (and later with 20120115) the video hardware acceleration seems stopped working.
Before the device had a score above 1000 for the 3d video part.(antutu)
Now it does not go beyond 661.
I flashed the device back with older firmwares but the video problem stays.
The only thing i can't change/flash back is the new bootloader that came with 20120112.
(Because i don't have an img of the old bootloader)

I know it's a bit far reached, but does anyone have an img file of the old bootloader?
Thanks!

Just install the new official Firmware. There's link in Firmware section.

I would be careful...

Once you go hacked FW... DO NOT GO BACK TO ORIGINAL ONE!

You guys saw what happened to my Ramos... we don't need more sacrifices.
