Aldiko wants to import to its own directory structure, but I've not had it insist that structure be on the internal SD... I just tell it to put it there, not intenally....

The cache is in the top level of the directory structure... you're not likely to see it in ES Explorer, but Root Explorer will. I prefer to use my PC and Android Commander... should have spent the extra bucks on bifocals last time I got glasses *smile*

I can actually see cache in ES Explorer (I gave ES Explorer Superuser access so not sure if others will be able to see it or not), but when I open the folder it says it is empty?

People are still running out of space because this apps2sd fix makes space by moving the .apk part of an application install to a new location, but all the rest of the files associated with an application remain in the old place.

I hadn't planned on making the repartitioning into a flashable update, just because of time constraints. I'll see what can be done, though. I'll be on my ship over night tomorrow as I'm officer of the day - perhaps I can get it done then.

Hi Kudalufi,

I'd like to add my voice to the group of PD users who'd be grateful for your help with this. Thanks by the way, for the explanation for how terminander's patch works. Still trying to learn about the basics in terms of how this PD divides up the 2Gb space - OS, apps, storage. I've read in some other threads that when you put terminander's patch on the PD, you can't undo it. Is this true and would this be a problem in terms of repartitioning the drive?

If I was more adept at what it would intale (ie, if I actually understood what to do ;) ), I would definitely give this a try. So any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Hmm, interesting. I just checked the settings feature on Aldiko to see how I could reassign the 'default' folder to being on the SD, but I don't see it. Do you remember how you told Aldiko to read the ebooks from the SD instead of importing it?

I tap on the Home button, go to SD Card and pick the particular folder (in my case, eBooks) and there are 2 options: Open and Import... I just hit Open... It theereafter shows up on the Recent Reads shelf... I think I was thinking of Laputa (dang if they both aren't identical from the shelf view!), but I don't import to Aldiko... just open it from there.... Hadn't really thought much about it, as it hasn't seemed to be an issue, as I never saw it drop them on the internal SD, if it did, and they don't seem to be there.... then again, I may just need a few more gulps of coffee... *smile*

So here is the flash order:

OP21 Market flash
SuperUser patch (if you want) installs to /system/app
Apps2sd patch. (before you log into market)
Install alternate softkey method
Flash Nosk patch

Where is the SuperUser patch located? I was successful in loading everything else but before I really go on, I would like to install this if it will make it better later down the road.

Unfortunately CarDock, Amazon, Facebook, News, Google Goggles and Passion Quick Office are in /data/app. These apps should be removed before or after the Apps2sd patch. Or with Adb you could pull them, run the patch and then put them back.

Not sure about the apps and where they will go? Is this something that will be allowed with the SuperUser?

There is a superuser apk thread in this forum, scroll down a bit. You will already have superuser with the 2.1 flash, but there is an alternative if you run into issues.

I'm afraid I don't understand your second question.

Disregard. My eye to brain to understanding missed the part about putting them back. Nevermind on the second question. Thanks.

I am not a techie, just a mom trying to make this thing work, so please forgive my ignorance :pardon:.

I am having issues knowing what to rename stuff. How do I know if I renamed the patch correctly? I renamed the 2.1 OS (downloaded from Terminander's thread 'coming to a channel near you') S64N_SLSB_PDUI_PD_21000114. It flashed fine. But I am not sure that just deleting the beginning letters of the patch (apps2sd or whatever it is) is right? I also downloaded the 4gig patch. Not sure if I renamed that correctly either. But this is a thread for the apps2sd patch so I'll post about the 4 gig patch in that thread ;) . Btw, I have a qvc black 4 gig fw version S64F_SHST_OP21-5_PD_20111231, hardware platform RD101-2GB-W, KERNEL VERSION 2.6.27 PDUI@android#719 serial number 7040061110116783 if any of that helps. Thank you.

@MissyLouWho: You should be able to use the name that Terminander suggested, S64N_SLST_KOBO_BB_20101104.dat . Once you're sure that that works, you should be able to use the same name for all the patches on the version you have.

You should be able to tell if the flash worked properly by watching for the little blue bar to go all the way to the right during the update process.

This update will also take a bit of time, so if your unit just reboots quickly, it may not be working.

You can also look for the specific file that this patch creates on your unit. I think the details are described above, but I didn't scroll back to check.

Thanks, it flashed! The only problem I have now is that in order to rename the other patch S64N_SLST_KOBO_BB_20101104, I have to replace the file with that name. Which I think means that the apps2sd will be gone?

@MissyLouWho: Once the update flashes, you don't need the .dat update file anymore. I assume that's the one that is going to be replaced?the S64N... file? You can go ahead an overwrite it. I assuming you're flashing it without an external SD card? just putting it on the internal storage?
