I have a Pandigital Novel that I upgraded to 2.1 using new firmware available on Slatedroid. The new firmware also gave me access to Android Market. In the begining all I wanted was a few simple games and a text editor. But since I've seen all the wonderful apps that are available on the Market I got greedy and want more than will fit on my little 2GB tablet.

I got the Link2SD app with the intent to move some apps to the 4GB SD Card. In order to do this I needed to create two partitions on the SD card, which I did using the MicroTool app. I made one partition FAT32 and the other EXT2. However when I attempt to use Link2SD I get the error message "Mount Script cannot be created" (see attached).

I did some research and found the following...

"You should have two partitions on SD card and both should be primary. The first FAT partition is your standard SD card storage. The second partition is used for application files and can be ext2, ext3, ext4 or FAT32. Some phones lack the ext2, ext3 or ext4 file system support and you may get mount errors like "no such device", "invalid argument". These phones need ext2.ko or ext3.ko modules and even some additional modules to be able to mount. Using FAT32 on the second partition will eleminate such problems, because FAT32 is supported on all phones."

I went back to MicroTool and modified the second partition to also be FAT32 (see attached) but this did not solve the problem; I still get the error message.

I have dome some additional research that implies I need to have "S-OFF", but I can't figure out how to do this on the Novel. So at this point I'm stumped.

Anybody have any suggestions on how rig the Novel to be able to shift some apps to the SD card?

IIRC, the capability to run apps from the SD card begins with Android Froyo 2.2.

I just bought a bigger internal micro SD card and swapped it out. Sorry I can't help, I have not read where anyone got apps to SD to work on the novel yet, but maybe one of the devs has some ideas.

The /data/app folder is already mapped to half the internal sdcard with the SH20 firmware. That gives you 500megs for download apps. If you need more, just put a larger sd in the internal slot. The firmware automatically partitions it in half, giving you more room in /data/app.

But that's only have the story, all apps are parsed into the dalvik_cache which takes up almost as much room in the limited Android system.

My WPDN doesn't see the external card, the PC can via USB, not the tablet. I'm using the ES File Explorer.

Figured it out by unplugging the USB cable. Now all is seen.

I have a black Novel (with smooth back). How do you open up the Novel to get at the internal SD card? Pry open the case from the side or ???
When I replace the internal SD card will I need to reinstall the 2.1 firmware?

Try asking over in the black forum, you may get more help, I don't have a clue how the black novel comes apart. Also, you might want to give the model # as there are several black novels which are not the same.
