Just purchased my first e-reader. I am just wondering what are the best upgrades to do. I have already purchased a 4GB external SD card. I would like to use the reader for email, books, facebook, games, and general use. Which would be the best ROM update for me? I am new to tablets/readers but I am very familiar with the workings of pc's and laptops. Having said that I know nothing about readers and tablets. All help is appreciated.

Hey Jesse, hope you're enjoying your R101 so far. First thing I did was dowload the cruz update:
http://cruzsupport.v...asp?deptID=5758

Then I went on to try the Macho rom, mainly because it's simple to do. But- I really wanted to try running Apps2sd, so that I could install and utilize more apps at a time without running out of space all the time.. so I finally settled on the JGM 4.0 rom.. which has taken me a while to work the kinks out of- but has really made me feel good about my purchase.

Also- be sure to check out the stickies in the forum, and read up on the wiki, SlateDroid has provided me with an invaluable resource so far, hope you enjoy it!

Were you able to get the app2sd to work?
I did the same rom but get an insufficient space error when I try to download apps. Gave myself 2.5 gigs for apps.

Just got the 4.0 and I'm going to give it a go this weekend. Hopefully I won't have any issues. I have a R103 but when I removed the sticker on the device it showed it was an R101. I really don't care as it seems the only difference is the internal SD is 4Gb instead of 2Gb.

Had to buy a new matress for $699... and... got the Cruz R102 for free. So naturally, checked cyanogenmod for support... then xda developers... and naturally google led me here JGM4 ROM. Looking to download this but have no clue where to find it and what else is needed to root it. If anyone could point me to a guide I would greatly appreciate it.

Looks like all the JGM 4.0 links I can find are from the now defunct mega-upload site... Anyone care to upload a new one?

I've been slowly re-uploading the safe ROMs to SlateDroid's default MediaFire account, so you're in luck. Here ya go:

I've never used this one though, as it sacrificed things I wanted.

At first I wasn't able to get it working, but persistence paid off, and re-reading the stickies on the Cruz reader firmware and development part of this forum didn't hurt either. :D

Depending on what size SD card you have there, you may have divided it with too little space for the apps you want to install. When the terminal emulator prompts for the partition size the number you indicate is NOT actually for the apps, the LEFT OVER / REMAINING space is what you have partitioned for apps. At least that was my understanding. Good luck looking into it, I'm sure you'll get it working in no time -if you haven't already.
