Hello all, my first thread post. I looked over the WIKI and various forums on the topic of microSD cards and SD Cards for the white Novel.
I will be getting mine from NewEgg in a few days and want to have some cards ready. In some threads I read, people had issues with certain storage sizes. In another thread, some people reported only seeing 1/2 the storage of the card available.
I also read something about needing to use a SDHC card reader for these cards (as a regular card reader would have issues.)

Ok, so my first question: The WIKI shows that microSD and Standard SD cards can have 32GB. If I can't get 32GB right away, should I get the largest possible for the microSD slot or the external standard SD slot. I'm not really understanding what their differences are except perhaps that the microSD is holding the OS files?

Question two, will I indeed need to get a new card reader?

Anyways, any further information of storage cards or links would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Carlos

Next time, instead of double posting along the same lines as my question, just put your questions up under my post and that way it saves space on this website.

yes I actually have the same question. let me put it simply:

What is the best option for expanding storage? Replacing the internal microSD card with a 32gb microSDHC or using the external SD card slot with a 32gb SDHC?

Also, if we replace the internal card, would it create complications given that some system files may be on the original card?

Thanks.

Internal if you want more room for apps, external for videos and music. Yes you will likely need to reflash unless you can recreate the Linux and windows partitions with the correct file structure.

Thanks for the answers! What is the best way to recreate the Linux file structure? Would it be best to run Linux, insert the card and use a file manager to backup the files and then copy them over to a new card? Any links would be great
Thanks!

Yes, I don't have any links, I don't know that anyone has done that yet. You can use search and see if you find anything.

Ok, been reading since before Xmas on this tablet thing (WPDN with F20 updated FW). I replaced the internal micro SD card with a 32gb card, reflashed the F20 FW, installed an external SD 16gb card, connected to my computer & can see both cards.

I copied my music from the PC to the tablet internal SD card - tablet doesn't see it. Thinking it needs to be on the external card, copied to that one. Tablet doesn't see the card at all, yet the PC can see it fine. ES File Explorer doesn't recognize it.

Next problem, I try to download apps, it tells me "not enough space"................. I should have close to 16gb of space on the internal sd card, unless all the data I put there went into that same partition.

Now that my posts are approved, the questions will start.

Specifically regarding the Internal & External cards. As stated above, the internal card is a 32gb micro SD. When I view it on the PC via a USB cable, I see the drive as a FAT32. I've used 2.2 gb & it shows 14.8 gb remaining. That's what I expect for the 50/50 partition on this card.

My problem is, the 2.2gb info I've loaded on this card, doesn't show & I cannot access it from the tablet. So I tried the above mentioned copy & paste. No luck here either.

What am I doing incorrectly?

Ever have one of those "Aha" moments? Found out the external card cannot be seen by the WPDN if the USB cable is plugged in. Unplug it, now I can see everything.

Sometimes technology is smarter than the user.

I flashed my pandigital 7" white tablet to the firmware found here over to the google apps version.. Seemed to go ok. The updates would NOT install though. It would start the flash proceess, and immediately show the ! above the android dude.. Now, I did carefully do the market steps also, and I can add more apps from the market properly. So far so good. A problem I can't figure out is with the sdcard slot out the top of the device..it is not accessible from 'es file explorer' at all. I can see the other computers on my network, but cannot successfully access the shares. So I am pretty much unable to play files like I wanted. Any ideas guys? It seems related to the basic subject of the thread.. thanks in advance.
