Well some apps did not support ICS and we have to wait for further app development.

Hey fards, to get into android/kernel dev., is there any point to start from, which you can recommend?

Played around with the latest ICS Snapshot and I realy like it :) cant wait to have stable version.
I may tell u nothing new here but some issues atm (using a 53 type Hanns):

  • Calender stops working msg appears a lot
  • Red rectangle around the screen showing up quite often
  • Youtube app not working (not that i would care)
  • Capacitive Home button does not work (back and menue button work)
  • Reboots often when having pad in standby
  • No wlan signals can be found sometimes when running for longer time and waking up out of standby (needs reboot then) (wasnt realy able to find a pattern there)
  • And most important: Does not boot anymore after one of the standby reboots (happened twice now), no access to recovery menue anymore, needs to be recovered via Adb

Thanks a lot fards for your efforts (lets see if i can find that donation button somewhere :p )

OK rocking the new snapshot, noticed a few things not mentioned already:

* Wifi speed is a bit slow - not as fast as older roms.
* Interface is a bit laggy at times.
* Installed a few apps from market and they are appearing just off screen in the top status bar of homescreen for some reason.
* Stock internet browser sometimes doesn't scroll.

Again, not criticisms, just feedback. :good:

the last one I've never seen, I can't see how that can possibly happen..
the wlan doesn't happen anymore.. it can't happen any more except after the weird reboot, but I fixed the code to stop that happening on kernel #2 (So is in kernel #3)

The others I know about and frankly at this stage don't care

(other than the reboot, and there's stay awake apps to stop it falling into lowpower state)

the red border

go into settings
developer options
tick
"Strict Mode Enabled" (looks like the toggle is messed up)

Fards - That video looks good, it looks like you are progressing really well with ICS

You are certainly fast I thought it would be ages before we saw any kind of working version of ICS on the Hannspad

Amazing work - well done

I have had no hangs on the hannspad logo, just SoD's...what app can I use to prevent deep sleep?
A bit off-topic, but if I buy something in the Android market, should it not be reinstalled to my tablet after I install a new rom on it, or are those apps bound to a rom maybe?

I reckon the Youtube App failing maybe down to it making explicit audio calls (fards stated that some games crash due to this)

Hi Fards.
Can you say at this stage that the ICS ROM will be good for a 1633 Hannspad? I am curious to know if the difference between the 1633 and 1653 will have any siginificance.
No rush for the answer of course. I appreciate you are busy :)

Cheers
Mr S

I am going to try your first alpha on my 1653 right now.

Edit: and it looks much more beautiful than your previous HC Roms.
Very nice so far.

Okay some problems seen here, on my 1653 HP:

  • After flashing the main snapshot, and then the 31dec updated kernel, during first boot the menu and back capacitive keys work. The Home cap key is dead. Then after a reboot (which happens anyway because SOD) none of the cap keys work anymore, period.
  • Softlocker doesn't work for me either, the tab still goes into SOD. Also a lot more soft reboots when running the Softlocker service.
  • Enabling or disabling strict mode doesn't do anything with regards to the red screen edges.

Cheers!

I think Home Screen button is not fully dead. If you press it, it highlights the first clickable field/button in current activity. I think i had seen this on early hc versions too.
