That all depends if the stock 2.3.4 supports multilanguage by default. If so then yes. If not, then no.

The refresh model is worth the return, trust me. :) A good way to get a pristine model is to goto a kohls that doesnt have any in stock and fill out a "Rain Check" slip. That way when they get pulled off the truck, you'll get one set aside for you.

As for the google experience -- Im including it all. Voice, gmail, talk, market, maps, etc... This is what tablets are meant for. This is what Android is meant for. :) :)
I mean, its got the RAM for it, and the CPU power, so why not? :)

I have been having problems with google location for the gmaps. Would you be able to cook in a fix to this issue in your rom. It seems to not like networklocation.apk that was in the google expeience pack from froyo. However anythign you have made from prior works well! Looking forward to testing out your new rom.

This "updated" Planet DEFINITELY is worth getting, I just got a WiFi HTC Flyer from BBuy about a month ago, Although the Flyer is obviously superior- the Planet is now finally a reliable working inexpensive tablet.

I have been playing with the Planet with 2.3.4 and have one issue I am not sure is me or the root/gapps that has been applied by using the older update/addons. The issue is that when I try to get my the Planet to allow me to access the internal storage the usb connection hangs and I have not been able to access the internal storage in any way except by adb. Would someone else test this and see if it is just my install or a little code issue. It works fine before applying the root/gapps updates to the 10/26 PD ROM. Thanks. ( To get to the internal drive called PD_Universe (I think) you most make sure USB Debugging is not turned on in the application settings/development setup and then after the USB connection guy comes up press the Turn on USB Storage link ) Just tried it on the Nova with the 10/26 ROM and the root/gapps updates and did not have the issue occur. Able on the Nova to see the internal and add and delete stuff without issue.

The Refreshed Planet is pretty slick and it should be a great platform for you ROM builders to have a lot of fun. I await your next mod.

I can use my RefreshPDP with debugging on and can turn-on usb storage without issue. As I recall, there may have been some initial wonkyness with this not working out of the box, but once rebooted, it has not reappeared.

I wonder if the issue could have something to do with the order one performs the updates for root/gapps. In my case, I rooted first, then applied gapps updates over stock (PR72) 10112011. Or for that matter if there may be issues with the different firmwares.

I'm having a similar problem to Fred - with both the 10112011 firmware and the 10272011 firmware, I cannot access any drives on the PDP from my PC when connected via USB. Debugging on or off makes no difference, however if I remove the SD card then I *can* access the internal drive from the PC. I may try reformatting the card in the PDP and see if that makes a difference. My unit is rooted, but I have not installed any Gapps yet.

Edit: Erasing/formatting the card in the PDP seems to have solved the problem.

Spz0 and jondar:

Pulled the Micro SD Card out of the Planet and then the device let me into the PD_Universe Drive via USB. Guess the system wants the SD Card formatted by the Planet only. Tried another Micro SD Card and formatted it on the Planet and it works in USB mode fine.

I have lots of stuff including apps that I had placed on SD Card so to reformat it would be not so great. Will try to move files to PC then back to SD Card after I format it on Planet and see if that works. Thanks guys for the info!! Thanks Spz0 for the new ROM as well wish I had another Planet that I could use and do testing on.

Fred, that's exactly what I found as well. Even though it started working after I reformatted the card, it started acting up again shortly afterward. (I can't remember if I might have removed the card to read it directly on the PC after reformatting though.) It could be related to Windows mount/dismount doing something to the directory that the PDP doesn't like.

Spz0, which firmware release is OpenPDP based upon? I've been running the 12112011 (11112011) for the last few days, and other than the USB/SD card issue (which exists on every version I've tried) it's been pretty solid.

My question is, did you both have the same SDcard in your PDP 2.2.1 and just swapped it to the new PDP?
If so, you need to remove the 2.2.1 Android and .android folders or the card will not jive with 2.3.4. Its like trying to overwrite windows xp with windows 7 without removing the xp folders.
Before switching to the new PDP, I erased all traces of 2.2.1 off my sdcard and it works like a champ -- no sdcard issues like you have described; No SDcard issues at all actually. Im running a class 4 4Gb card and for a class 4, its super responsive.

The firmware is based off of PR72_A_BN_W_A_C_10112011 currently. Im trying to stick with official firmware releases rather than their betas in their support repo.

Yep, I sure did. Had no idea that could cause a problem, but I wiped the .android_secure directory and a few others (.ade, DCIM, didn't see anything in Android that wasn't solely app related so I left that one alone.) and it looks like it mounted OK via USB. I'll have to see if the problem comes back, but thanks for the tip!
