I will not be held responsible for any damage done to your device. Flashing this ROM is at your own risk. Ensure your device is plugged in throughout the flashing process to prevent damage.

Windows CE Hopelessness Edition custom ROM

Instructions: Extract (using 7-zip), the .zip file. Copy the 'script' folder to a blank SD card. Turn off your slate, and insert the SD card. Turn it on, and leave it until you are prompted to remove the SD card and press OK. Hold the power button down until the device turns off, then turn it on again, wait for the screen calibration tool and follow the onscreen instructions.

Well I've been bored this evening, so I've started building a custom ROM. It's not much yet, but we'll see where it ends up. As above, feedback welcomed!

It's now on the list. I did have a play with a registry setting which may have allowed it with a button, but it didn't work.

Wierd, might be a bad flash. I have got IE and the control panel fine on mine, but I'll investigate.

[quote name='Binary.Coder;21264]Thanks.I tried it out but there where no apps installed (not even IE)' date=' control panel did not open and I did not see any option to activate wifi.[/QUOTE'] I just downloaded it from Deposit Files, and flashed it, and it was fine for me. Could you try the flash again and tell me exactly what you did, step by step? Thanks.

Does not work for me - setup ran thru, ended up at a Chinese WinCE screen and no touch screen support. After 20 mins of nothing I restarted the unit, now it does not start up. Suggestions?

Does it says 'Erase NAND Flash' with a countdown, then ask you to remove the SD card? At this point you must hold down the power button, remove your SD card and turn it back on. Works fine for me, I've tried this particular release twice.

What did you use to extract it? I use 7-zip with no problems. Try re-flashing maybe, sorry if it's not working but as I say, it's working for me! I should be releasing a minor update this evening / tomorrow morning.

You'll be pleased to know that Hopelessness CE is actually the basis for our new server, works a charm. Check the homepage (y).

Feedback both good and bad welcomed, and please feel free to make requests. With regards to the issues some of you are having, it would really help if I could get more information about them, a video of the problem would be incredibly helpful.

Sometimes it did not start the NAND flash at all, staying in chinese empty desktop. Sometimes NAND flash started and failed at some random point about 3/4. This happens with the Donaldson's Win CE script and yours. The fix is (see also the M003 forum thread on Win CE, where these tips were published) : flash android first, then delete some apps from the Win CE directory, then flash WIin CE.
