Hi,

I used to have froyo on a mid816 and got adhoc (to my windows mobile phone) working.

Now, I want to do the same using my T9 with gingergbread (2.3.1), but just changing wpa_supplicant.conf doesn't seem to do the trick.
When I input my adhoc network in the file, it keeps saying the folowing:

Raphael (AdHoc)
Not in range, secured with WEP

So, it doesn't seem to see the network (Raphael is the SSID)

Any ideas?

TIA

It seems like it is working without WEP, but with WEP I can't get it to work yet.

Any suggestions still welcome ;-)

i also created an adhoc wifi network with my iphone4 and noticed that it does not accept adhoc networks... i changed the app on my phone and i know i am able to do infrastructure networks... now it works just fine...

i do not understand your post fully... dont know if i am right... but you could change security level to WPA? i am running just fine on WPA2..
I apologize for my crappy English in ALL of my Posts already, I hope you understand me. ;)

My setup:

Internet <--3G/Edge--> HTC Touch pro (Windows Mobile 6.5) running WMRouter (ad hoc) <--WiFi--> android tablet (T9 with gingerbread)

Infrastructure mode is not supported on WMRouter (at least not that I know of).
To use ad hoc, my android tablet needs wpa_supplicant.conf adjusted (Froyo and Gingerbread both seem to need this). Most important seems to be adding, ap_scan=2.

When I don't enable WEP on WMRouter (I don't know if WPA is even possible) my android tablet (T9) with altered wpa_suppicant.conf sees my WM phone and can connect to it. After connection I still have to run a single line in a terminal to connect to the internet.
setprop net.dns1 192.168.3.1

With WEP enabled in WMRouter, my android tablet doesn't seem to be able to see it, quite strange actually.

Hi,

I own an Android Tablet running Gingerbread 2.3.1, and I'm getting mad in trying to enable the ah-hoc WiFi connection.
I have tried several version of the file wpa_supplicant that I have found on the Internet, after having rooted my device, but all of them seems to do not work for me.
I have also tried changing the wpa_supplicant.conf file, changing the line ap_scan=1 to ap_scan=2, but it didn't work either.

I would really appreciate if you could give me information on how you succeded to enable ad-hoc wifi network on your device.

Hope to receive in your reply,
Plecto

Take a look over here: http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1077173

The topic is not that long to read through ;)

Hope it helps

FYI, I'm using my tablet with wmwifirouter on my windows mobile phone almost every weekend (actually, mostly my girlfriend is, while I'm driving). It works quite well.

Hi, and thanks a lot for your reply.
I tried to modify the file wpa_supplicant.conf as it is written in the post you indicated me, but when turning on the WiFi on the Tablet an erroe message appers (com.google... configuration...) which says (I think) the conf file is wrong.
The error does not come out when the file looks as follows (I added the rows in bold to the original conf file), but the network (WMWiFiRouter) does never appear in range. I have tried restarting the tablet but same behavior. On my mobile phone I'm using no Wep, i.e. Open. Any more suggetions? Thanks again. Plecto
