Hello, I know it's early to think about it now, but, if I'm not wrong, then there was a video or article with windows8 preview on tablet with tegra 2. Of course it had 1gb ram, but as we all know windows 8 should be faster than windows 7 on the same hardware. And as we all know that you can run windows 7 on 512 mb ram.
Anyone knows something about windows8 on ARM? I know that normal old windows programms will not run on ARM, but I just find windows 8(ARM edition) more attractive than android.

FROM XDA :
WoA (Windows on ARM)
WoA requirements from different sources:
- 10.1” display with 1366x768 min resolution (though smaller screens may be supported with reduced functionality)
- Volume Control, Windows, Rotation, Lock power buttons
- Dual core CPU with hardware accelerated GPU
- at least 1 Gb RAM
- min 16 Gb fixed storage
- 100mW idle power in standby

- WoA 8 would require UEFI to boot (instead of BIOS on x86), ACPI is required too. So no WoA to existing devices (they don't have UEFI/ACPI and I don't think that anyone would waste his time on emulating them).

Remember that the first windows 8 version shown at the microsoft conference ran on Tegra2, so our cpu at any rate is a good thing to have :)

So destiny of Windows8 on Hannspad is in hands of talanted enthusiasts as it is with honeycomb.

Hmmm, well while those who got us honeycomb are indeed talented, microsoft are sure to be a harder nut to crack in terms of legality etc than open source stuff.

And I'd suspect microsoft to be trying to claim a large market share against google and won't (hopefully) just make an OS supported on only some devices.

Chief :)

at least 1 Gb RAM

a stumbling block maybe? as the Hannspad only comes with 512mb RAM

From Microsoft.com
Windows 7 system requirements:

If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:

•1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

•1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)

•16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

•DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

I know that it's for windows 7, but I have tested windows 7 on 512MB ram and it runs normal. And windows 8 should be even more optimised.
Don't know about ARM version, but I think that it should be even requirement-friendlyier than x86-64 version.

Well, would be nice to get windows8 tablet for Hannspad price.
Have been using mine for a while and it's a first android device for me.
Now I do have a little disappointment in android.

While I too would like hardware accelerated honeycomb/ice cream, I think it'd still be fun to try windows 8 on the hannspad, just think a BSOD on our beloved hannspad - what fun! ;)

the ASUS VIVO TAB RT has "windows RT" that is a minor release of windows8.
This tablet is based on tegra3.

So I think....the hannspad is tegra 2. . . windows rt may be compatible...
