Just ran the update to the Facebook app from the Market. Supposedly, the update had some tablet tweaks in it. Now when I open it, I see the "News Feed" header and then it force closes.

I'm on Flashback 7.2. Just wanted to put this out as a word of warning to others and find out whether or not it's also happening on other ROMs.

Also, wondering if someone can post the .apk of the earlier, working version.

I've ran into the same issue. I'm running VEGAn Tab Ginger 7.1.0. The update works perfectly fine on my atrix.

Same... FB updated to v.1.7.2 on 5 Oct 2011 and it Force Closes repeatedly on my gTablet running CM 7.0.3 (Pershoot 2.6.32.41 kernel on the 1.2 branch).

Clearly the "bug fixes" in this most recent update also included some "bug additions" as well... I swear the FB client for android is being programmed by a group of small monkeys...

Works fine on my grab running custom Froyo. Could be the cm7 interference.

I read on another forum that the latest Facebook app requires a GPS location. You can try a fake GPS location app and see if the latest Facebook app works

I have also experienced Force Closes with Facebook, using the Flashback 9.0 ROM. You may want to try out FriendCaster as an alternative Facebook app.

If this is true, it is ridiculous, but I sort of doubt this is the issue. I looked at the error dump on the crashing and it looks like a Java problem of some kind. the current FB app works fine with the GPS turned off on my phone, btw.

touch.facebook.com works in a pinch though I guess.

Latest update means no more force-closing, but it's not exactly tablet-optimized. Laggy as hell, too. Looks like I'm sticking with the "Friend Me" app.

I can't even get the new FB app to install via Market... lists as "incompatible" with the gTab. sigh... so broken.

Ok guys, my Asus Transformer (on Honeycomb) just got another update for the Facebook app (v1.8.0), and luckily for you guys, I know how to sneak it out of the tablet. :good: I uploaded it to my personal Mediafire account here. Just download and install as you would any other app. This is no joke guys. Not malware either. I wouldn't do that to this community. As I get more updates of this app, I will try to continue to upload them for you all to use.
