After i have installed the latest firmware (20110914) the problem has been solved, hdmi works! Firmware can be downloaded at www.techtoys2go.com/herotab-mid816. Here you can find the firmware for the mid816r2, resistive tablet, capacitive tablet 2 point and 5 point.

Finaly, it works!!!!!

The HDMI does work nicely with latest 20110914 firmware.

No, you must root again. Use rootscript Tasselhoff.

OK, so i just flashed the firmware listed on the Merimobiles site and now see that there's a later update on the techtoys one. Has anyone tried the 20110725 firmware (the one I have just flashed)? If so what is the main difference between that one and this later version?

I tried both firmware. When flashed with 20110725 firmware my HDMI still not working. My HDMI only works with 20110914 firmware.

Thanks for that - Just out of interest, do any of you guys have issues with a distorted mic when using Skype? My tablet seems to be awful for it.

Yes, exactly the same with me.

My biggest deceptions are that Skype video is not working and that the external SD continues erasing pictures.
No-one really working on this anymore ???

I have updated to 0914 firmware and now have picture but can only get the sound to come out of the tablet not the television. I have two different hdmi cables and both result in the same. Am I missing something?

I had a similar problem (tablet not booting after I overwritten a font file) and solved it by pushing the Reset button.
