I have read that people are having issues with the MID816 and I can also confirm with MID816R2 that HDMI has no video just sound and was just wondering if anyone else here are still having issues with HDMI not working and if there is new firmware/workaround for this that I missed.

My Television:

Samsung LN46B750 (Tried all 4 HDMI Inputs)

Cable - Brand new

MID 816R2

Model Number: S5PV210
Version: 2.3.1
Kernel: 2.6.35.37-bena-a2p3+ Bena@BEma #388
Build: Gingerbread bena-20110531_102837

Tried w/TV HDCP enabled/disabled
TV Mode: Tried both HDMI (YCbCr) and HDMI (RGB)
Tv Resolution: Although my TV is 1080p/60 tried lowering resolution down to 480i

Thanks

My 816R2 running 2.3.1 has the same problems as Phantas, I have sound but no video through HDMI

My supplier, A1CS in the UK, is aware of the problem and tells me that it is being worked on to find a solution and software update.

Hmmm I would be happy if they are really working on the issue and will come out with a fix for it, but over at TechToys2go http://www.techtoys2...6?category_id=4 the factory is denying there are any issues with the HDMI. I also tried to make a post also informing them that my HDMI doesn't work but mysteriously my post doesn't show.

Hi,

new owner of the MID816R2 I realize that advertising HDMI with this tablet is a lie. For the 20110725 release of Android 2.3.1 HDMI is not properply implemented on the OS side.
Even trying to hack a little bit the /system/lib/libhdmi.so (basically forcing settings whitout autodetection) I'm unable to make it display anything on the TV.
From the logcat output we can deduce there is no I2C implementation for the HDMI output (it is used for the DDC protocol to get the EDID from the monitor)

What I stumbled on is this patchset from the samsung-soc kernel developers : http://www.mail-arch...g/msg04722.html
It looks like they enable exactly this I2C feature...

Seems promising if a kernel update is planned.
People here have more information about the Samsung kernel integration release ?

Cheers,

i can't say the same thing here, i got my mid816r2 today and one of the first things tested was the hdmi having been aware of this post immediately after purchasing.
i ebayed an adapter and had no trouble connecting and displaying on the tv. my only problem with it was the the audio was playing from both the tablet and the tv with an only just noticeable delay.

AGAIN, MY HDMI WORKS

others thing pissing me off tho are the pea sized permanent blemish on the screen; on top of the pressure point ripples.
grrr

LG - 32HL3000 32", works here with HDCP off, 1080p and other resolutions but not all
my hitachi L42VPL1 42", nothing works at all, it picks up the sound but no picture.
If i move from the lg to the hitachi, i get a single image on the screen and sound but nothing more. i guess some handshaking isn't occuring.

I'd love to get a fix for this. HDMI out is one reason I chose this tablet. I'm pretty disappointed. Any updates, please let me know.

If you're going to change the library, we need root. There is a second option, but you need to disassemble the MID and write the file directly to the flash card.

I try to copy this file using root explorer but seems to have permission issues to change r/o to r/w (remount as R/W) in /system/lib.
Always get the message "You cannot paste here because the file system is read-only"
Any way to go around this?

Has anyone been able to copy and confirm that it works? Also will this work for all or just some models of televisions?

The file permissions correctly installed (chmod 755)? If the tablet does not boot after replacing the file ( although this is very strange, I checked on her ), then flash the latest firmware it.

Mine too cannot boot up after copy the file to /system/lib.
Can help put some instruction as to how to flash the latest firmware to get it working again?
Thanks.

I found that my that if i wiggle the cable, it will eventually come up. Lame but at least it works. Maybe I'll have a tech at work take a look at the solder joints.
