If you have the new market version, follow this:

Simple as there is a bug in the new market app:

1-launch Settings from your home screen.
2-Once you are in the settings menu, tap on Manage Application.
3-Now tap on the All tab at top and scroll down to Market app.
4-Once you can see the Market app, tap to select.
5-From the resulting options menu, tap on uninstall updates.
6-After this, leave the settings menu and fire up Android Market to see if you have really managed to downgrade the Market. And if that’s the case, then enjoy and wait for the official bug free roll out of the new Market.

Worked like a charm...

You could first try a general refresh of your Market with these steps:

Go to Settings->Applications->Manage->Running
- Click Market
- Then Clear Cache (NOT CLEAR DATA!!!!)
- Then Force Stop
- Click Google Services Framework
- Click Clear Data
- Click Force Stop

Open Android Market (it will error this is GOOD!)

Shutdown and Restart the tablet
- Wait for Wireless to Kick In
- Wait for System to Finish Loading

Open Android Market
- If it opens without an error GREAT!
- If it opens with the same error... give it a couple minutes or multiple tries at opening (it will go through)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you're not finding certain apps or getting 'item not compatible errors' try going through this link:

Your tablet does need to be rooted. I tried this the other day and it worked for me.
