P041

in the meantime I found these: instructions for upgrading internal storage memory P041 which look like another step by step tut for opening it up and replacing the card - seems pretty similar to the one you followed...
I took note of the person who said replacing with another 4Gb was the only one which worked, and since mine is a 4Gb, I bought a 4Gb 10 class to replace the internal (and a larger 10 class for the external storage so I can keep the external one that came with it just for the android folder lol).
You are correct - mine seemed to flash perfectly... but when I restarted it there was no change to the error message.
Now I just have to wait for my cards to arrive. I'll let you know how it goes.

Funny story there too... I ordered a 4GB class 10 as previously mentioned - they sent me an 8GB! seemed silly to send it back and complain, so I decided to use the 4GB class 4 card that I had been using externally, thinking that the internal card would be the same, as all internal cards I have heard about were class 4s... turns out my internal card was a 4GB class 6!!! (completely dead - pc can't read it - also VERY flimsy - falls out of the micro card reader - and was held into the board with a great big piece of fabric tape... as soon as I removed the tape, the card came out with it... it was only JUST hanging in there.
Anyway, now I know the fix works, and how to do it, I can put up with the slow load and get another 4GB card (6 or 10 class) in the future... and another touch screen... but for now... I would just love to get past the calibration screen and have a tablet I can use once more... I often used to plug a trackball into it anyway...

i know its a long shot, but i have been doing a bit of reading and have come across some owners placing a blank file called welcome.not in the root of their sd cards and rebooting to skip the welcome screens....including the calibration screen....can't hurt can it :-)
Good luck with the new addition.

I tried it, but so far no joy.
First I took the internal card out, loaded a blank welcome.not file onto the base directory (making sure that it didn't have a disguised .txt ending)... it took longer to load through the android screens, and I actually had the entry screen show for about 5 seconds before the touchscreen calibration came up... got my hopes up there for a moment!!!
then I tried adding the welcome.not file to a blank external sd card for good measure... nothing
then as a last ditch attempt, I reflashed using the September version (which I had been using prior to the "demage") instead of the October version I have been trying to load since, and I snuck the welcome.not into the android folder... nothing else was working, so why not? still no luck...
I have been rebooting using either the power off button for 7 seconds, or the reset button. I can't remember - was there a soft restart button combination that might be worth trying??? maybe the welcome.not will result in the calibration screen being skipped by that kind of reboot instead of shutting down and restarting?
In any event with all the extra playing around, a sizeable chunk of glue somehow detached from the wireless antennae without me noticing, and did a lovely job of cracking the LCD screen as well, because I thought I would be smart and fit it back together tidily to await the next idea so as not to lose the screws
I read somewhere that this was a possibility: N101L6-L02
Would that work? The back of the LDC screen is covered with a very sticky silver fabric... I tried to peel it off a bit to see if I could find any serial numbers / manufacturer but stopped before I caused further damage!!!
By the way, even with the welcome.not file there, all the normal loading graphics showed, so I don't know if it was doing anything... the only difference was the 5 secs or so longer it took before the calibration screen showed.
On a positive note, I must say these p041s are hard to brick!!! with all the mistakes I must be making given my total inexperience with such experiments, I am amazed it is still responding and giving me hope of getting somewhere eventually!!!

SunSky sell a FT5/6 wanabee with 2.3.
They stock both screens, the battery, the charger and the mirror screen as spares.. Here.. but by the time you will have finished buying both screens you might decide just buying a new tablet might be better value.....
