Instructions for OpenPDP ROM!

• Download zip file (OpenPDP-ROM-vX.XX-Spz0-update.zip) to the ROOT of your sdcard!! (Do not download to your PC as you may encounter a "Signature Verification Failed" error upon flashing)
  make sure there are no other update zips on your sdcard, including official updates!
  
• Rename to update.zip
  
• Shut down the device.
  
• Boot to Recovery. (Vol. up + Power for 3 sec)
  
• Push Vol. Up until "Apply update.zip".
  
• Push Vol. Down to apply update.
  
• Reboot once flashed. (push Vol. Down from recovery menu)
  
• Profit!!

**note: I have removed the Kindle App and the HDMI Switch app from the ROM, due to the fact that they just sit in RAM. If you wish to retain these, I have provided separate APK files for these 2 apps, located below. Just Sideload them as you would any other installable App.

Known issues:

Issue: Notification slider background has a tendency to get squashed to the center. - (rom issue)
Fix: Restart of PDP usually fixes the issue -- working on a fix.

Issue: SDCard sometimes nerfs out, causing music and gallery images not to load. - (stock firmware issue)
Fix:Unmount and Remount the SDCard through Android Settings. Fixed with new 10/15 firmware (09/26)

Issue: Angry Birds (standard) craps out when loaded. - (stock firmware issue)
Fix: Issue occurrs (for me) only when trying to load anrgy birds from homescreen shortcut -- load from app drawer.

Issue: Touchscreen Calibration FC's on "Save and Exit". - (stock firmware issue)
Fix: "Touch Recalibrate" App added to Stock app list. -- still working on a fix, as this app doesnt work as well as it should be.

Issue: Voice Search FC's on launch.
Fix: None Yet -- Currently working on a fix. Fixed
Issue: Youtube FC
Fix: None Yet -- Will fix on the next update. Fixed -- needs field testing.

2nd download, same error. I am running 07062011. No worries take your time, you are doing an awesome job.

Flash to 06/07 stock fw then try my rom, see if that works. No guarantees, but worth a shot.

I can confirm that with a different Sd Card and 06072011 FM on my device I have still same error "Signature verification failed"

ergh. doesnt make any sense. The sig is fine. It flashes fine on my system. Can others confirm a sig. verification error?

Im going to re-upload them to mediafire -- perhaps the upload is bad? Could you check the zip to make sure it opens fine in 7zip/winrar?


edit: stupid question, but you _did_ rename the zip to "update.zip" right? If you dont rename it, it'll give a sig ver. error as well as no such file/dir error.

I did checked the previous one with 7 zip it opens fine. I hope some else can confirm that too.

Hate to say same "signature verification error". May be my device or may be the file, I don't know.

The only other thing I can suggest is to download straight to your sdcard -- bypassing your PC.
Im thinking the checksums are getting borked when its downloaded to another computer. Dont know if the above would solve it, but its worth a shot.

What we need is another damn recovery. 3e sucks ass. If there was a way to roll back to 2e, that doesnt have sig checks -- or better yet, CWM

I would gladly bug test your rom, but i don't have my planet with me atm. Would factory resetting the device fix the installation problem?

I dont think so. From what Im reading, 3e recovery has issues with the checksums of update zips that have been transferred from computer to computer. Im sure thats whats causing the sig verify errors..

...so frustrating..
