Hi, slightly off topic , but do you know if the new version of Skype with the video call option for Android works on this? There seem to be some minimum spec requirements (WHY!???? - seeing as Fring and Tango work on LOADS of other ones!) and one of them seems to be 2.3 (which Herotab Mid816r2 runs) and a NEON based chipset - not sure about this one, hence the question. I've actually ordered the tablet and it's waiting for me at my workplace as we speak, but I'm on holiday for 7 weeks so can't even try it (damn it!)

I haven't tried the new Skype yet, but we will see soon enough I am sure.

Well, tasselhof, just one question...

Is there any MSN-Like program that we can use the camera on this MID816R2 ?

I was wondering if I can make a videochat with friends that uses MSN.

I haven't seen an MSN program... you could try searching google for an MSN android app.

I've asked on Merimobiles about Skype and video calling but they're yet to get back to me. Not found any answers online either. Hopefully it will though.

I installed this on my MID816R2 after removing the existing skype.

I can say that Text and Audio work both ways.

Video works incoming, but not out going from the tablet.

Still pretty cool!

Hmm, that's something, but a 2 way video chat is obviously ideal. I wonder if this works the same way on the t9? Hopefully an APK will be created soon that runs on the R2

The APK in the link above does run on the R2.
I haven't tried it on the T9 yet because my power adapter died and I am waiting on a replacement one.

So Skype have now updated things so that video calls works on phones that have 2.2 or plus, without the chipset. I'm back in China in 2 weeks so can't test it on the 816r2 yet - anyone had a go and see if it's working?
