Hi dicksoft! Do you remember me from the xda-developers forum?
Anyway I've just tried the link and it works fine for me! Please try again and if you can't download it I'll try to upload it in a mediafire kind of site.

Hi Mr.Wendal, please help us to solve this prob. I got same problem, [cramfsck: bad root offset (0)] in system.img unpacking. I've successfully unpack update.img using AFPTool.exe. But I can't unpack the system.img, I've tried using rkDecrypt.exe, but it says no crypted file. so what am I gonna do now?

I am also having this same problem trying to extra the system.img from a RAMOS W3HD.

Thanks in advance if you can offer any help.

Try with this firmware toolkit, made by Wendal too (translated by me), its a little old but I remember that was useful for certain system.img from other tablets that wasn't encrypted.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JRG456V5

To use it, run the OneButtonOperation.bat file inside the Firmware_Kit_v1 folder.

I just bought a Teclast P81HD recently. It is an 8 inch tablet using RK2918 with 1024 X 768 resolution. Can I use this tool on P81HD?

Hi Wendal,

Can you take a look and see if your image tool would work on the firmware of Nextbook Premium 7 (rk2918 Gingerbread):

wendal,

did you try to modify boot.img/recovery.img in update.img built by SDK2.x?

I'm trying with Yuandao/Window N50DT 11/03 ROM. structure of boot.img is same as standard android boot.img (kernel + ramdisk.cpio.gz). it can be unpacked/repacked with unpackbootimg and mkbootimg, but I noticed 20bytes SHA hash in header is different even if I just unpack/repack with same parameters :(

if I flash repacked boot.img, I always get recovery mode. it seems bootloader checks SHA hash (like rockchip's CRC used for old cramfs images) and it treats boot.img is broken.

do you have any idea?

oops. sorry, I made updated rkcrc which has -k option for KRNL image several months ago :)
I'll upload latest one on androtab.info.

I pushed latest my rkutils https://github.com/naobsd/rkutils
now rkcrc can make KRNL image with -k.
rkunpack can unpack RKFW image used in RK2918 ROM in addition to unpack update.img for RK28x8.
rkafpack can make update.img. (no docs for now, sorry)

just FYI, I found this one https://github.com/j...ie/rk2918_tools

If you put together a cyanogen distribution for rk2918, I'm willing to test it, and perhaps start using it as a regular - there are advantages to having similar setups on different devices.

I made first one. please check http://android.modac...ost__p__1851096
(again, it's first one. far from perfect)

there is workaround. new bootloader still support old kernel.img and ramdisk only boot.img. unpack new boot.img and make kernel.img/boot.img with rkcrc -k, works for me.

I tried to unpack a P71 rom i found somewhere on the www.teclast.com bbs board. [teclast-P71-V2.08-026F.rar]

Your tools unpack the firmware.img
but fails to extract the system.img cramfs [cramfsck: bad root offset (0)]
The file header does look like a valid cramfs

Any idea's. on how to unpack (and repack) this cramfs type ?

P71 use bad bad bad cramfs format , unable to unpack or repack

So you can create a ext3 system.img (export /system in adb : busybox tar czvf /flash/system.tgz /system)
and use loader from T760, version 2.0.8
then , change init.rc in boot.img, mount /system as ext3 install cramfs

As I see, Teclast had forget P71!! I am very anger about that! All other module(P72/P73 etc..) had update roms, but not P71!!!

Hi all,

Wendal, i'd like to use rk29xxImageTools on my yuandao N10.
A few days ago, i've upgraded it with SDK2.XX firmware and yesterday, as i discover your tools, i tryed to download the firmware upgrade from yuandaocn.com/down, but all files are missing.

1. is there a way to extract firmware image from the tablet?
2. maybe you have it somewhere? :D

Thx

Could someone please answer my question.

For rk29 based tablets, most official update roms are a single .img file, this is the file that you need to rename. The tool will extract boot.img, kernel.img, system.img, misc.img, recovery.img from such single file.

Thanks Wendal, this tool works great! I used it on my Archos Arnova 10 G2 (RX29). I got a "half root". I still connot get write access to /system. I am a n00b but learning fast especially reading this post and using your tools. This is my first Android product and WOW.... is it fun to hack at but hard to learn how. I am trying :)

Any chance you can look at this update.img file here and see if you can work your magic? Or give me some tips at what to go at myself?
It unpacks fine using your tools and repacks fine. Reading this post getting RW access to /system is over my head at this point.
FYI Many are hoping for a CM port on this tablet.

Here is the stock rom for the tablet.

Thank you,
Bob

Hi Wendal! Sorry for offtopic. I've googled all over the world but unsuccessful. May be You know...
I need to reassemble the firmware for my tablet (RK2918 Cube9GT8gb clone) with Ethernet service disabled by default because it is hungry for power and starting automatically on every reboot. So I have to disable it via menu manually every time. Android 2.3.2

build.prop >> ro.ethernet.autoEnable=no
doesn't work at all or works from time to time until WiFi interface wouldn't be disabled.

What could one modify to disable it?

i registered just to thank wendal and his toolkit for enabling me to root a nextbook 7 premium.same process as other poster said, download update image from nextbookusa.com,apply wendal tool process, put repacked image on sd card.i did have to do a factory reset on the tablet first, which i had already put market and numerous apps on.then, the process went smoothly.
