Wow, it looks pretty well put together and easy to take apart. It would be great if that open port could be used for GPS.

From the video, can't really tell if it's a Mini-PCI or Mini-PCIe slot. As long as that can be identified, there should be a few GPS cards available. The only other challenge will be driver I think.

Looks like mini pcie from the size of the port but I cant find much for it in GPS.

Hopefully its a full Mini PCIe port. Some Asus, Dell and Macs used a Mini PCIe SSD connector but I doubt its one of those. Space looks like it limits you to a half height card but there are some out there like those GPS cards and this Wireless N Bluetooth 3.0 card

With it you could have a 1.8 internal hard drive. A T9 with a 120 Gig hard drive would be kind of cool.

Would have to guess the port was originally for a mini PCIe 3G card because it has a SIM card slot. A card like this might work.

Looks like you would only have to find a way to mount the card but that shouldn't be too hard as long as it can fit in the case, the full mini PCIe cards are 30 X 50.95 mm (1.18 X 2.0 inches) and the half cards are 30 X 26.8 mm (1.18 X 1.05 inches)

Cool, I thought that was what the mini pcie port was originally for. Just having the mini pcie makes the T9 far more flexible than a lot of other tablets, just need to get cards that work with Android.

I'm just considering to buy this tablet, because it looks like the thing I need. But after watching your video I had a closer look on the pictures @ merimobiles, and it doesn't look like beeing exactly the same device.
This pic is from merimobiles, and it looks quite different from the device you had torn apart. Does anybody know if the inside Hardware is still the same?

I got mine from Merrimobiles last week and it looks exactly like the one in the video. I'm not sure if that picture is an older model or an unreleased model or a completely different tablet, but it's not the same one I bought.

I also asked this question to merimobiles directly and just received an answer. The pictures in the announcement are wrong. Other infos were that new FW is out testing, and it's supposed to have full market access, and Gingerbread is planned for beginning of August. Hopefully

Took about a week to get here after ordering. It took longer to process than to deliver which isn't too bad going from HK to Aus.

Ok, I have pulled down my new tablet and there's one main difference with the model in the video which is dual speakers. To be honest I get the feeling someone screwed up when making the plastic mount as the connection for the second speaker is present in the video and in mine the second speaker looks like it's been put in using a chainsaw.





Also I have a good image of the multi-touch chip and the model number is slightly different to the video. The model number is FT5406EE8 ERE164D. I didn't get an image of the other side of the chip unfortunately. A Google search for the model number turns up some Chinese sites that list it as a "mutual capacitance touch driver IC" (Google translation).



I can confirm the mystery socket is a sim card socket but it doesn't look like it's picked up when a sim card is inserted.

Got my T9 (also known as M728), with dual speakers. I think it is made by inle company because the OS has "inle" on it. The difference is it has a Huawei Modem included. It was bought in a store in Shenzen.

Although it would be very surprising if the gps would work that way...
