Any feedback on these? I'm a little concerned about voltage regulation ... I see the home charger brick specifies an output of 12v, 2A, but I know a car's electrical system often outputs 14v or more. Also, is the amperage controlled (fuse, etc.), as 2A is a pretty low threshold.
Anyone used one of these enough to know if they're safe?
I found a post somewhere else.
Lost the URL, but still had one tab open as I was closing this tab decided to help you out.
Basically
Any car charger will work provided that the connector is correct.
Somebody on that post mentioned that you want to be VERY careful about starting the car with the device plugged in.
Actually any device, since the voltage will drop and then spike.
The regulator that "talks" to charger can take up to 18 volts.
The regulators are either TPS658621A or TPS658621C, http://www.ti.com/product/tps658621a
Parts are as follows
