Here is a procedure how to recover from a bad flash:
1. Remove your MicroSD (internal SD)
2. Disconnect battery from your PDN
3. Download the PND Firmware from PANDIGITAL site http://mirror.suppor...X7E_ENG_6410POP
4: Copy the PND Firmware that you download step #3 to your EXTERNAL SD via CARD READER.
5. Rename your firmware that you flash filename (the one the bricked your PDN!) to the PND Firmware that you copied step #4 "remember - this is in your SD - card reader"
example: the PND Firmware name is: S10_11_19_K_PD_INX7E_ENG_6410POP.zip rename it to: PD_INX7E_ENG_6410POP.zip which is the one that bricked my PDN. So, in your SD you should have PD_INX7E_ENG_6410POP.zip. (please check it first)
6. Install the external SD that have PD_INX7E_ENG_6410POP.zip into your PDN.
7. Plug power adapter your PDN.
8. Press + button and hold power button until you see Andy logo - release the buttons. wait for 3 minutes - the Pandigital background will display.
9. Remove power plug from your PDN.
10. Plug power adapter your PDN.
11. Press + button and hold power button until you see Andy logo - release the buttons. wait for 5 minutes
12. YOUR ARE BACK FOR HACKING AGAIN!

you are in the dreaded "boot loop". In reality there are a couple of things.
1.) HERE IS THE SOFT RESET/FW FLASH TRICK IF ANYONE WAS WONDERING THAT BREAKS THE BOOT LOOP WITHOUT PULLING THE BATTERY OR WAITING FOR THE BATTERY TO DIE. YOU NEED A HELPER UNLESS YOU HAVE MORE HANDS THAN I DO!
a.) Take out your SD, format it on your PC and place the Reader FW update from the VM website. Or better yet have another SD preloaded with a good FW as backup beforehand.
b.) Place the FW in the SD.
c.) Get a paperclip and unbend it, have your helper put it in the reset slot and get ready.
d.) You hold Volume Up+Power.
e.) The trick. Have your HELPER press Reset with the paper clip while you hold the volume up and power. (It might be possible to go from reset to Vol up+PWR in time single handed but I have never been able to and this is easy.)
f.) Keep hold the buttons and you should get back to Install Andy as normal, the loop is broken.
g.) Hopefully your FW update was good and everything comes back to life.
Otherwise let the battery die plug in the power a bit then restart with the Volume Up+Power with a good OEM FW and hopefully Andy comes back and reflashes everything ok.
2.) If not hopefully you purchased from a brick and mortar store like best buy. Bring it back this is easiest and exchange/return.
3.) If you purchase online or try warranty with VM. Best of luck with that can't help you there, you will need to read policies and processes.
4.) Otherwise you need to let out the factory air and open the case. There are spiffy case separator tools for this but I use the flat thin end of a plastic orange peeler (you can use a tine broken off a plastic fork).
NOTE: This is at you own risk and will likely void the warranty, they say the battery is replaceable but you could break the internal tabs or static shock something if not careful. I am absolved from any responsibility of damage that may occur.
a.) Take the SD card out if in and start at the SD card slot and gently pry it apart and insert the separator tool in a crack between the top and bottom of the case and slowly and *gently* work your around the case..
b.) You should hear some popping sounds as the internal tabs come loose. Hopefully you wont break any off.
c.) Once you get all the way around the case is also possibly secured by double sided tape, if everything on the edges seems loose lift the covert straight up if possible you may hear ripping sounds as the tape separates.
d.) At this point you can remove the battery connector to stop the boot loop. It is stuck in there good, I use a small chip pulling tool to grab the little notches on the side of the connector. Otherwise I hope you have strong fingernails it is tough to grab. Put it back in.
e.) With the cover off you will see the internal SD card under a metal clasp, I think you slide this forward to loosen. Watch how it it sits on the board so you can visualize how to put it back later.
f.) Format the internal and external cards in a digital camera if you have one (as it does a full format). The internal card is a mini SD so you will need an adapter to use in a full SD slot.
g.) Place the factory fw update from the VM site on a clean external SD.
** At this point you can try to reboot (volume+power) and try to flash without the internal card in and the cover off. I appears this is the most likely way to get it back, hopefully Andy with progress bar will appear.
h.) Hopefully everything works power back down and you put the internal SD card back in (little fussy but lay it the appropriate area and put the clasp back down and slide back to lock it)
i.) Put everything back together.
j.) Calibrate the screen.
k.) Format the internal SD using the Android setting menu for good measure before using.
l.) If you have success you can retry the safer 533Mhz JGM ROM if this has not scared the stuffing out of you. It will be better than stock.
5.) You might have a $100 paperweight (a brick).
Heading off to work hope that helps someone.

TIA.
Make sure the SD card isn't "locked" or protected.
I tried several times to flash a ROM, and was getting the same thing, until I noticed the little "Lock" slider position.

0.) Stop what you are doing, put down the Cruz. Step back, take a deep breath and relax.
Then follow Rushman's steps.
I was in the same boat as you yesterday. I was able to recover by flashing the ROM update from the VM site.
The most important thing is, don't panic.
Also, make sure the "Lock" slider on your SD card doesn't get pushed into the "Lock" position, as it will cause the update to fail.

This is easy to fix just do the following.
1. Remove your sd card from the slot, then carefully remove the back on the reader by starting next to the sd card slot and work your way around gently. A guitar pick or something similar works well. This will pop loose the little plastic tabs all the way around until the back snaps free. There is some double sided sticky tape that is located at the top so you will have to gently pry until you free it from the tape.
2. Now unplug the battery by carefully and gently unplugging the battery connector.
3. Now look for the internal sd card just to the left of the battery connector. To remove the card gently slide the metal clip to the right towards the battery connector and it will unlock so you can then lift the metal cover to swing it up. It is hinged on the left side so gently swing it up to expose the card and carefully lift out the sd card. Take note of the way it sits in so you make sure you place it back the same way.
4. Now take the internal sd card and place it in a PC and format it. You will need to purchase a sd card adaptor/reader if you don't have one. Do a regular format not a quick format and format it as Fat32. After formatting it place it back into your Cruz and close the metal cover over the sd card and slide the metal cover to the left to lock it in place.
5. Now take your external sd card and place it in your PC and do a slow format it also as Fat32. After formatting it copy over the VM firmware to the card.
6. Put the sd card back in the slot and plug the battery back in, but don't put the cover on yet.
7. Now press and hold volume up and power button together and keep holding until you see Andy and the progress bar and then release and allow it to flash.
After it reboots it could stay on the Cruz logo screen for a few minutes so be patient.

I had the same problem JGM instructions said to do another full format with fat32 and copy the file again, but that didnt' work either, so I did a format from the reader, then copied the file again and that worked for me.
To get out of the exclamation point screen, I hit the reset button with a needle

I think you are at the point of step 4 and have to format the internal SD and unplug the battery. "white screen 'o death"
I have seen some comments that going "backwards" from 4.0 to 3.1 causes this because not all FW reset all data and so you can wind up with a franken flash where is has parts of both. So first try to pull the SD and BATTERY and go for the base FW from VM when you reset.
OTHERWISE THERE IS A LAST DITCH PROCESS: here
This is a Pandigital ROM that is the base for JGM and PandaBomb boots. It will not work on its own but might reset you back to a place where you can flash the OEM FW.
The url for this reset rom is bad in that thread but I believe is: here
I believe this is ROM giga8547 used:
Beta 2.1.0 (full GE, user data wipe): SD_CRUZPDN_2_10_GE_PD_INX7E_ENG_6410POP.zip
You will need to rename to PD_INX7E_ENG_6410POP.zip and read his instructions carefully. Dont know if it works myself and I hope to never be in a position try it as it is a hail mary. I would not do it until you have tried everything basic and read other thread in this forum about your sitiuation.
Best of luck...

I found this page when I was googling the same problem everyone else is having here, and I went through all the steps that was listed here (except for rushman's "last ditch" approach), and nothing worked, just went back to the exclamation and triangle screen. I was able to finally solve the problem to get it to install the new firmware, and it was something that i did not find posted here so I thought I would share with you how I did it.
I bought the Pandigital 7inch white for my wife for Christmas 2010. Within 2 days of operation, I went and upgraded to its latest firmware at that time which was:
S10_11_19_K_PD_INX7E_ENG_6410POP
This is a zip file about 70mb. Then when I went to upgrade to the new android firmware (new as of 8-18-11), I downloaded this file from the Pandigital website:
SH20_20110302_K_PD_INX7E_ENG_6410POP
Another zip file, about 104Mb. This where the problem starts. You see the installer on your PC screen backing up your data and whatever else you have already on your device, and then comes the triangle/"!" screen, right?
Now here is the problem I discovered. When I looked at what I had on my Pandigital through Windows Explorer (it was labeled "Removable Drive (J:)" or something similar), I descovered I had both firmware upgrades in the internal MicroSD card:
S10_11_19_K_PD_INX7E_ENG_6410POP
SH20_20110302_K_PD_INX7E_ENG_6410POP
Since I had both files on the Internal SDcard, the Pandigital was probably getting confused. So this is what I did:
Since I had already went through the earlier posted step of reformatting the Internal MicroSD card, I put it back in and let the device restore itself, while having NO card in the external SDcard slot. When that was done, I hooked it to my computer via USB. Found the Internal MicroSD through the "Removable Drive" spot in Windows Explorer. Then I found where the Pandigital put all the files it backed up on my PC. Cut and Pasted all of those files back to the Pandigital, replacing all similar files with the backed up files (that window that gives you option of "yes to all"). Then since I found both of the zipped upgrade firmware files after my restore (as labeled above), I DELETED both zip files from the Internal MicroSD. I then returned to the Pandigital website and went through the process again of installing the new android firmware, and it completed the upgrade with no problems!
Thanks for letting me put in my two cents worth, and I hope it was useful information : )

Interesting, and I believe useful.
But I got stuck at the start, where you talk about downloading the firmware from the pandigital site. I found a link for a file called. Pandigital Novel.Upgrader.exe but not the SH20_20110302_K_PD_INX7E_ENG_6410POP , maybe I looked in the wrong place??
A couple of the links I opened were:
