Friends told me its design is similar to latest HTC phones. Ok, After 2 weeks of use I agree that is a nice and reliable dual sim android phone.
Now, I wanted to"play" a little with it like install new ROMs. I searched the NET for firmware and Tutorial about flashing this phone without any results. The chinese seller coudn't help.
So, I ask to all: If you know any site/forum about this phone, please point me to it.
Thnak you

I'm having the same problem as you trying to find something on the Internet that has firmware and help
for my H2000 Android Phone.
I did some research on the Star A2000, but I was disappointed to know it has a resistive touch screen.
May I ask how the Touch screen handles, do you have to use a stylus?
Also I would like to know does Skype work on the Star A2000, or when you try to log-in it constantly tries
to log-in but will not sign you in?
Hope we get more people in the Unlisted Android Phone section, we surely need support for these phones.

Hi Rob. Sorry for delayed answer.
The screen is in fact resistive but in action seams to be capacitive. I never use a pen. the scroll with fingers is smooth.
about skype, never used so I have no opinion yet.
Greetings

I would like to know how good is the battery with a phone with such a big screen. Does it last sooner than with 3-3.5" screens? What's your experience.
Thanks.

Responde bem?
Obrigada.
Cumps.-

Hello Mate!
I am interested in purchasing the A2000, the model you have. Behaves like the beast? It's fast? Or chokes up? And the battery?
Connectivity - how to port (Bluetooth, WiFi)?. Another question, you used the GPS? It is reliable? Responds well?
Thank you.
Cumps .-

It is a little underpowered... however it does all well.. mine cost about US$150.00 SHIPPED here to me in NZ.. so all in all I am happy..
Now as for Skype, well I too wasn't able to make the installed app work, so I uninstalled it, and got Skype lite, and installed that.. now all works fine?
I have Rooted the unit... I used Universal Androot... but Z4root seems to work also.. I as well as this hand installed busybox with it's own installer... had to do it twice as first time it didn't set off SuperUser Permissions app...but as usual doing it twice works like a charm.
It has TWO cameras, a front facing one and a "Normal" one too both are great.. a good camera app is Camera 360 Ultimate... Also, I found a couple of Webcam apps...but one, SECuRET LiveStream works great just setup.. use a web browser navigate to the address and ya got a WIFI webcam.
I have n issue though.. the GPS.. well it works.. well it appears too.. however i cannot seem to get any programs other than Google MAPS etc to work? & even then i am NOT sure it isn't AGPSing? The only way to tell is to use Airplane mode and try then...? I wish I could figure it out?
Also I haven't been able to get any Flashlite app to work, all i want is to turn ON my Flash LEDs so I can have a flashlite but I have tried everything but cannot get anything to light those darned LEDs
You need a special flashing cable, i have ordered one, so when it arrives i may try to flash the phone, what I really want to do is remove the NAND lock, i believe this can be done with software and the cable, then i won;t need to use software to Root the phone, it will just be "Unlocked", and I can do as i want... I was also thinking about trying Windows mobile etc... see how e go?
I have found there is a lot of support on Chinese sites surprise, surprise as it is a Chinese phone i guess... anyway Google translate helps, but gives strange translations .. makes me laugh.. havr to figure it out what they mean, however i have gotten lots of useful info and apps...
I DO LOVE my inbuilt TV though... anywhere, anytime, I have TV, a good, great, picture too.. all in all it's worth the cash i paid...i reckon.. i will use it till i see something else.. actually i have my eye on one of those 7" tablets that are also a fully functional phone too.. i want one.. trouble is the pockets in my clothes aren't big enough for it to fit into my pockets lol... but i do like the BIG screen after using the 4.3" on this baby i could never go back to those little screens, sorta like once ya use dual monitors ya can never go back.. well never say never ...hmmm maybe they make like a 5" model? i will have to look, maybe the dell Streak is what i need? anyway.. onwards and will keep lookin..
regards to all SD

I'm also a Kiwi as well, and I "WAS" planning on buying this but the cheapest price I found is around $130 USD, which is the equivalent of about $160 NZD.
Then, I later came across the Hero H400 and the Hero H7000. Both of them seem to be pretty decent for its price. The only difference is that H400 has Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) installed, but the screen is resistive. Whereas H7000 has Android 2.2 (Froyo) but the screen is capacitive. Other than that, the price is only $30 difference where the H7000 is the more expensive one.
Here're the sites I'm planning on buying one of them from:
http://www.china24sh...-gps-p-478.html
http://www.china24sh...hone-p-450.html
The thing is, I haven't used that website before and even though there're tons of reviews, I don't know whether it's a trusthworthy site or not. Can those of you that actually purchased the Star A2000 (or other chinese Android devices) share a good website to buy from, that is also cheap? Mobile-Phones.cn has the cheapest price and I've compared with a lot of other websites already, spent almost 2hrs doing Google search......
Anyway, for those of you that find the MTK6516 CPU running slow, try this tweak out:
http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1111145
Lastly, to answer marc83's question, 90mb of free memory is actually pretty good. My Motorola Milestone only has about 70~80MB of free memory, and that's only after I installed a custom rom (TelusLite v5.2) and used tons of tweaks to make it run better.
I installed Startup Auditor to disable useless services or apps from starting automatically, as well as using Titanium Backup to freeze useless apps or services that I will never use (such as the Motocar app that comes installed with Motorola devices). This frees up a lot of memory since those apps will never be launched, and also it's overclocked to 1.2Ghz but anyway I've done a lot of tweakings to it and I only get on average 80MB of free memory. Therefore, i'm actually surprised that you get 90MB on average, that's not too bad for a chinese Android device......
