Disclaimer
I cannot be held liable for anything you do to your tablet. It's all your own fault if it runs off in the middle of the night or decides to pee in that corner where you would not notice it anyway. Also, if you flash my rom, and it breaks, that's not my fault. You read this disclaimer, laughed, and still decided to do so all by yourself.

For who is this rom?
It's for geeks that want to live on the bleeding edge of new software, and know their way around Android, CM7 and are not afraid to flash the device.
I cannot handle 'end user support' so don't come into this topic asking for help. We'll expect you to sort things out mostly yourself.
If an app or a feature doesn't work, it is not the rom's fault, and it would probably not have worked on the original Urbetter kernel/2.3.1 rom as well.

Kernel bugs?
I cannot correct bugs or problems in the kernel. These include 'vold' not mounting /sdcard or /extsd or /emmc, and usb-otg stuff.
I didn't break it. Complain to urbetter for not releasing the source, don't post about it in this topic, please.

Anyway, what to say. I ported over what came with urbetters' 2.3.1 rom, and kanged it into shape to proudly present to you:

Cyanogenmod 7.1.0-RC0-Dropad-Asure-Kang
Here's a quick overview of all the juicy goodness you'll be getting:

- Full-featured Gingerbread 2.3.4 AOSP
- Cyanogen exclusive: Tablet tweaks enabled
- Cyanogen exclusife: Soft buttons enabled
- Everything regarding the tweaks or buttons can be configured as you wish.
- See Settings -> Cyanogen Settings -> Tablet Tweaks
- Very lean rom (All Chinese crapware is removed)
- Wifi works
- Full 3d support, Hardware OpenGL works
- Touchscreen works
- Input/Buttons works
- Battery charge/indicator etc. works.
- OMX works (v0.3+)
- Camera works (v0.3+)
- Rooted (v0.3+)
- More languages than you can shake a stick at. (v0.4+)
- Full market (Skype and friends can be found & downloaded.)

Broken, and not yet done:
And these are the lame parts that need some extra attention when i feel like it:
(Probably late at night and/or in the weekend.)

- OMX Video playback (might work in 0.2, needs confirmation.) Fixed to mp4/h264/avc level of Galaxy Tab in 0.3
- Screen sensor rotation Fixed in .02, enable 180 degree rotation in Cyanogen Settings!
- ALSA audio Fixed in 0.2 (But not yet on HDMI.)
- OTG usb and /mnt/emmc internal space mounting/ Fixed in 0.2
- Camera Fixed in 0.3
- HDMI output (both video/audio is broken atm.)
- Orientation sensor needs tweaking (it works, but is iffy.)
- For M7+ boards: No bluetooth support yet.
- External 3G dongles not working yet.

Kernel/Overclocking
Ah. No.. not yet!
Once progress is made on the 2.6.35.7 kernel, that could be integrated as well.
Right now the included kernel is still from Urbetter, and has some missing stuff. If they do decide to release a better kernel, i'll shoehorn that into my rom.

What about GAPPS
Basic lean gapps are included for now, and you'll need to get the remaining ones from the market.
Again, these are not included and have become must-downloads from the market:
- Gmail
- YouTube
- Maps
- Talk
- And some more that i can't think of now.

Google doesn't want un-approved devices running the Google apps suite, so i can't include them.
Note: To see market, add a Google account first, otherwise stuff may not appear as an available app.

Downloads:
Dropad/BETA Version 0.4 (14-5-2011) (from c8dev.com.)
Note: This just adds more languages, like Chinese, Swedish, Norwegian, Russian, for all our foreign users :)
(No need to upgrade if you are on beta v0.3)

Great! i will try it in a minute,
until thenhere is a Multiuplad mirror:
http://www.multiupload.com/FH5Z8YFIL5
plz check that the archive is OK, SHA1 of my download is:
cdb2a6ec6cb8155392205e95627d5dd4024ed645

//EDIT: ok, it flashed wonderfuly =)
WIFI gave me some troubles but seems OK with a static IP.
There is no sound and the G-sensor is tilted 90° to the left.
The status bar is on the bottom insteadof on top o.O
but i realy like the taskbar buttons.

Neocore shows me results of 79.8FPS,
AnTuTu Benchmark scored 2109 points (but feels much slower then runs on other firmwares)

Wow, what a 0.1 release! :D

whoop whoop great news Asure,

Here's a copy : http://c8dev.com/Fir...ull-01-kang.zip

I have just added an account to the C8 Development at c8dev.com server. You can upload any updates direct to there.

UPDATED : I have just flashed it and went very smooth indeed.

It feels a damn sight snappier.

Only real issue is sound and G-Sensor. Personally I never use my tablet in portrait so I have just disabled the auto rotate.

Need to get root access now so I can alter the ldc density, I might give z4root a go see I'd it works.

GREAT JOB ASURE - I'll be clicking that PayPal link and sending you a little thank you.

I flashed it yesterday, had a quick look around and must say wow!

Do you know what I really liked? The very clear statements in the README file :clapping:

They will read it for sure, let's hope for the best.

If you are in the USA.. buy a Coby Kyros 7024, it's the exact same hardware. Then, sue Coby for violating the GPL. That should get us kernel source as well.
There's not only a violation in not releasing kernel source, the exact same applies to 'busybox' code being used on /bin instead of android's 'toolbox'.
(So kernel guys and busybox guys could sue them if they wanted.)

Can't we just pretend we have a Coby and scare them a little bit? Those americans are always afraid of any kind of law suit :pardon:

Hi all. I have to confess here, I'm a geek, and love my tech - but when it comes to Android, I'm pretty much as n00b as they come. I recently bought the Dropad, and am very interested in this ROM - but I have no idea how to flash a ROM to the Dropad. Anyone able to help a confused n00b? I'm pretty much up to speed with flashing my Android handsets, but can't seem to find much info that helps when it comes to the Dropad....any help would be really appreciated.

just format your memory card....then put the downloaded files in the root of your memory card. then make sure that u eject safely...wait for a few seconds then remove the card connection from the computer....insert the card into the tablet...power on the tablet and hold down the menu button until you see the recovery screen...then the tablet will do the rest.....best of luck

You can customize the task bar 101% under Settings - Cyanogenmod - Tablet tweaks.
- Enable/disable soft buttons, per button, or add a few that i left out
- Status/Notification bar can be moved to top/bottom as needed. :)
- Dead zone for bottom status bar.
- etc etc.. check it out :)
