THANK YOU MRGUY over in the Adam forums.
I am just riding his coat tails and I take no credit for this.

There's a lot of things broken, but the GUI is up and that's the key thing at the moment. It's also slow as molasses. Remember, IT WAS ON THE ADAM FIRST!!!!

The Adam and GTAB are sister tablets, so the fixes for one can usually be ported to the other.

05/09/2011 update. If you are running a 1.2 based GTAB ROM, it has been confirmed that the Adam port itself will load up as-is (that way, you don't have to wait for me to attempt to tweak it). The only known issue is that the gsensor is broken (different hardware). This is because the Adam dev branch and the GTAB 1.2 dev branch appears to be the exact same dev branch. Probably the compiled kernel is slightly different because of the slightly different hardware.

GTAB 1.2-based Honeycomb update.zip ("ALL IT DOES IS BOOT" Pre-pre-alpha" Version):

pre-alpha has been retired.
My mod of their work will be here, for now: http://www.slatedroi...-tabletzpad-t2/

Going to update my first post. If this goes to Engadget, I want them to get the correct link. This was not my fix, I am just riding off MrGuy and DJ_Steve.

Btw, once it's at a point that it's functional, I'm release an alpha ROM. Right now it's a real mess so it needs a lot more work. Think early GB ROMs. G-sensor, Wifi, sound all broken. But I'm not concerned - it's play time!!!

I was thinking the same thing.

We have two tabs, and I was trying out BC & ML on mine to see which one I wanted to use for both of our tablets. This may have just decided it, neither.

I'm using the 1.2 bootloader, as it's just what I'm comfortable with atm -- I suspect it would work on 1.1 with some tweaking, but I haven't tested it yet. Believe it or not, but a lot of what I learned with Brilliant Corners is being used to troubleshoot this.

I just got Wifi working, but it's still very slow (no hardware acceleration at all). And the bottom buttons don't work (back side button works, however). Baby steps.

Will probably post something GTAB-usable soon, but don't expect much. More of a "hey, look it boots but not much else" thing. Wifi does work, that's about the only other thing I got working so far. Lots of broken apps, no Market, etc - so it's a "pre-alpha" at best.

Testing the update.zip, now. I think the Adam Wifi will work with the same tweaks, it's just a matter of getting the right files in the right place. The update.zip will have all my changes over MrGuy's system.img, so it will show what I layered on so far.

Will drop the link in my first post, when it's ready.

roebeet,

Loaded and hooked up with USB to PC...several observations.

1. USB Keyboard works. Not only will type, but when choosing icons, etc. will
sometimes move selection boxes around and allow actuation with "Enter" key.

2. I thought about trying screen calibration app for VS to see if it would
affect keys, but haven't figured way to load yet. Touch does work accurately
in lots of places!

3. Wifi errors on mine. Worked for a minute when first loaded but then errored
out. Was initially talking to router becuase it asked for pwd.

4. When hooked up to PC (with "Unknown" sources and "USB Debugging On", the Taskbar
icon does show nVidia Harmony trying to hook up. But doesn't seem to trigger
whatever acutally lets it start talking (like the USB Activate buttons in regular
roms).

Gotta quit tonight, but will keep working. Let me know if I can do anything else.

RevBC

EDIT: Remembered "blue recovery" working. Has calibrate screen on menu. Ran it.
No difference I can see. Scratch that!!

Roebeet, once again you prove how valuable you are to the gTab community. Sister tablet doesn't mean same tablet. Of course give credit where it is due, but don't discount what you have done for us and the gTab.

Thanks! I think mine took at least three tries and a long time waiting before my Wifi router connected. So it's definitely "iffy" at best.

We're thinking that the calibration is off in places as the UI was designed for a 1280x800. Maybe certain things are hardcoded for that? This is going to be a long and messy road until AOSP is released, I think. But at least it loads -- waited almost three months to see that!

EDIT: One thing I noticed on this HC alpha -- it might be very slow and buggy, but I don't think I've EVER seen the GTAB screen look this good. Granted, you can't fix screen angles but there must be something different about HC that takes advantage of the larger screen (which makes sense, of course). When I'm looking at it straight on the colors are bright and the fonts look very sharp.

I might have to do a few pics to really see if I'm right or wrong on this. Maybe it's just wishful thinking.
