Thanks for the insight. Right now techtoys2go just came out with a capacitive touch MID816, so I think I'm leaning toward that since everything else will be the same and there is already such amazing support (in no small part thanks to you). Anyway, I'll let you know what the capacitive screen is like on the new MID816. I'm hoping this will give the tablet some legs, along with the zippy processor.

I love the form factor, weight, and performance of the MID816.
- The biggest/hardest issue (for me) is that it is a Resistive Single Touch screen... while very responsive... it is what it is...

I have a couple reason why I use the C8 currently with Ransagy's C8lean ROM.
1) It is Capacitive Glass/Plastic Screen
- Extremely important when you share it with a Toddler (2yrs old)
2) it is Multi-Touch (2-point)
- Great for Games like Heavy Gunner, Fruit Ninja, and others (which I like to play)
3) It has the Samsung Processor (AWESOME!)
- Can't beat the performance in a single core chip.
4) The microphone works on it

Things that I don't like about the C8
1) It is easier to "brick" even though in pretty much all cases it can be fixed.
2) You can't make a backup image of the MicroSD card and use it to restore the device at will.
- Unlike the MID816 which is GREAT at making Full Disk Image backups which have helped many people recover from bad/failing things.

Why I think the T9 will be my new favorite
1) From what I have seen so far... the T9 is pretty much the MID816 just with a 5 POINT Multi-Touch screen.
- Same Processor...
- No NAND chip... only MicroSD (means backup images should be possible)
2) Performance so far has been extremely zippy... bootup time is literally a couple seconds.

Current Issues with the T9 that will need to be worked out in firmware updates
1) No Market App installed (should be able to make a backup copy from another device and put it on)
2) Probably still some stability issues as it was just released... although I haven't run in to any just yet.

Hi,
My apologies in advance for asking a lot of stupid questions, but I am new to technology and tablets.
I have just bought a budget tablet - Tabtec Moo9s.
Is it the same as Mid V7, Eken etc?

I was told by retailer to upgrade firmware to Singularity, did that but now I don't know how to watch my videos on the sd card - it has put them into "Rock player"? not "my videos".
I can play them once i have selected "hardware decoding mode" but there is no sound!

What have i done?

You may also want to check out the Hybrid ROM - Uberoid as I think it still includes the original video player...
Not sure why your sound would suddently not work though.

I am expecting to recieved my MID816R2 from Merimobiles either today or tomorrow!
It will be interesting to compare and contrast the T9, MID816, & MID816R2.

* Go Launcher Ex
* Launcher Pro
* WMT Launcher

Does it matter which??

1) You can use whichever launcher you choose.
- Once you are comfortable with one then you can check the box for Set as Default
2) You can always try downloading another video player such as YXPlayer or the multitude of other.
- there also should be a My Videos icon in there still

In regards to the sound issue... it may be the file type, but a different player might have better luck.

I was just wondering what is the tablet u using on your Video FAQ´s, is it a WM8650 chip-set based one? If so, what ROM are u using? I checked your FAQ on How to Customize the Home Screen, and I realized is quite fast, also, I like the old fashion style of the Notification Bar.

Currently I have the Honeycomb Uberoid lookalike ROM, but I´m annoyed by the Notifications Bar, I really don´t like it and I don´t how how to get it back to the old style one, if that´s possible...

The FAQ's were done using a Herotab C8 and a Herotab MID816 from merimobiles.com.
- Both have the Samsung processor in them.

This is my second post but i've read a lot on this forums already

I have some thoughts about the Mid V7 bought from merimobiles which I'm not sure about.
- The front of the device has air between the actual screen and the coating, no bubbles just everywere. When i want to press something on the screen i need to press 3mm down before i hit the screen itself.
- Between the surrounding of the screen and the coating are bubbles near the LED and the camera.
- I can scratch the screen (coating) with my nails!! And i really dont push that hard..
I can't believe this is normal even at the price of 90usd.
Please tell me about the quality of the devices you guys have!
I would really appreciate that

To change things like topbar you need to change the framework.apk as IIRC HCH has edited it to make his Honeycomb style theme.

I believe the device comes with a thin film on it that can be peeled away... and that is what scratches so easy.
At least in my case the screen underneath has been fine....
Just make sure you aren't peeling back the layer with a black border.

Theres a lot of work already done for this device the major hickup seems to be people having connection issues, were still trying to work out what the issue is with this.

Hi Roger, thanks for your answer.

I guessed it would be something like that. The thing is the Notifications bar is extremely slow, it doesn´t react as fast as the rest of the screens or apps list. It scrolls up/down in 2 or 3 frames (not sure you catch what I mean).

Not sure whether this is only happening to me....

This is a really stupid question, but how do I get my PC connected so I can open an ADB shell?

I got 2 MID v7s from Merimobiles, and I have the tablet, power cord, and the dongle. But the dongle has 2 USB type-A (female) connectors, just like every computer (USB Host device) I've seen.

Do I need a USB-A to USB-A cable? Or am I just not seeing a miniUSB or microUSB port somewhere?

And the answer, for those playing along at home...

The connector at the bottom of the device where the adapter (2x USB ports + Ethernet) connects is the same plug as for an iPod dock cable. I was able to use this cable and see the tablet's memory and SD card.

I haven't tried wedging the tablet into my iPod-compatible stereo. I wonder what would happen.
