The CPU frequencies on the Zenithink tablets are done via the spl file, the Zenithink Developer atp_uestc says only B0 and G0 boards can be overclocked and has provided oc'ed spls for those boards on the ftp, however the E3's can't be overclocked according to him, sorry......
I am using the overclocked spl on my B0 (10" original) without any problems, however the overclocked spl for the G0 doesn't seem to work well on my G0 (10" v2) tablet, at least not with the Angry birds, the game kept auto closing on me with the oc'ed spl, so I am using the regular version for that tablet - and now Angry Birds works fine on it.....(However, since I updated to the latest Angry birds and Angry birds Seasons, I can't block the ads, makes the game a little laggy now....

Yes, Adobe Flash Plugin 10.1 from the Zenithink website or FTP does work, but not well, I don't have it installed on any of my tablets....
The 7" is similar to the 10" v2 in that they both have an inand drive as internal storage and the gsensor works with games.....
The 7" is similar to the 10" v1 in that they both have only 256MB RAM......
Whatever works on one ZT-180 tablet should work on them all, unless it's a memory issue, then may only work on the 10" v2 with 512MB RAM.....

Hmmm, UniversalandRoot 1.6.1 should work. I usually get errors rooting when the CPU is busy. Have you tried letting the tablet stay on for a long while without doing anything and then rooting?
PS - You know you should be using the Do not install SuperUser option when rooting, right? Then download/update the superuser apk and binary....

I'm using the Do not install SuperUser option but I've missed the instructions about another binary. Will go back & look. Thanks.

Not sure if your previous attempts to root may have changed something.....
If all else fails, reflash the tablet and then do as I described above......
If you are good with adb, you can try hellbringers method to root the ZT-280 C91 tablet, not sure it will work for the 7" ZT-180, but you can give it a try (same method was used to root the Froyo Beta ROM for the original 10" ZT-180 when it first came out, just a different su binary was used)....

Get su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip from http://androidsu.com/superuser/ copy Superuser.apk and su from the zip file to: \android-sdk\platform-tools\
Let the device connect and do this from the Windows commandline (\android-sdk\platform-tools\):
adb remount
adb shell "rm /system/app/superuser.apk"
adb push Superuser.apk /system/app/
adb push su /system/bin/
adb shell "chmod 6755 /system/bin/su"
adb shell "rm /system/xbin/su"
adb shell "ln -s /system/bin/su /system/xbin/su"
(remove the USB cable and turn device off and on again)
If connecting via USB doesn't work you should be able to do this via wifi:
Get the terminal emulator from the android market, I recommend the one by 'Jack Palevich', the one in the 'DevTools' application does not seem to be able to type numbers (?)
- Start the Andoid terminal emulator and run:
setprop service.adb.tcp.port 5555
stop adbd
start adbd
And from the Windows commandline do this:
adb connect x.x.x.x (replacing x.x.x.x with the IP adres of your device)

in landscape mode everything is too wide (by just a bit) and in portrait mode it is too thin.
i have tried to edit build.prop to add the lines:
ro.sf.lcd_density.xdpi=xxx
ro.sf.lcd_density.ydpi=yyy
but i did not see any difference, as if these settings were completely ignored.
if i modify ro.sf.lcd_density to 180 and uncomment it, the lcd desity changes (icons, everything is bigger after reboot)
is there any fix for the aspect ratio "problem"?
by measuring the inches of the display, it is something like 15.25:9, but by the resolution it is 15:9.
this is a very small difference, but when looking at pictures people get either too fat or too thin (depending on orientation).

Hmm, looks like my last post from yesterday disappeared.
Yesterday lunchtime I decided to have another try at rooting using UniversalAndroot 1.6.1 with the Do not install SuperUser option. This time it succeeded. I'm really not sure why.
Thanks alot to omarahum for your help.
