Great thread and this will help with firmware development.
From what I can tell the cases are a dime a dozen , they all appear to use the same case so it will be the internals that really matter

Please follow Master }{'s above post so that we can get proper information on these tablets

For what it's worth:

It's this one (it came with lots of 'pre-installed' chineese (cr)apps. Already rooted. Also the keyboard was partly chineese.:
http://cgi.ebay.nl/w...em=180632195856

I've added the com.google.android.maps.jar and xml through ADB because some applications i've developed depend on google maps.

As an embedded SW developper i'd like to contribute to the M10 firmware development :) (is there already some sort of code base with drivers etc?)

Bugs:
- Sometimes the device doesn't wake-up out of sleep mode (1 out of 10 times)
- Touchescreen sometimes doesn't work out of sleep mode (1 out of 20 times)
- Accelerometer doesn't seem to work correctly.

Odd things:
- Switch on the side of the device doesn't seem to have a function
- Because of the bugs, it would be better if the reset switch can be pressed more easily (maybe I should hook it up to the unused switch :) )

Perhaps it's also usefull to get the Wifi/touchscreen/additional device information to know if the device drivers used are compatible with the hardware.

Cheers,
Sjoerd

we can use the help we can get. As far fw , we get what we can from the tablets and the updates from the manufacturer
feel free to think outside or inside the box, just remember to have a backup if your are testing on your own tablet

Model #2, Sjoerd's
Does not charge from Dock Connector, has seprate charging socket right of speaker, and internal SD Card,
Toggle Switch next to Home/Menu buttonNo
Reset button next to dock connector.
Model number: HT_PAD1051Kernel: 2.6.31-00011-ge4e866b-dirty
Build Number: HT_PAD1051_V1.4-eng 2.2 FRF85B eng.tianfeng.20110225.185109
...

Hello,
I'm the Apad-France Forum tester for this tablet ; this model is named GPAD GFORCE :
- RESET button is next to audio jack 2.5 connnector (yes jack 2.5, not 3.5 / need adaptor to use classical audio hearphones with 3.5 jack connector)
- MicroSD internal system card = 8Go (2G0 system partitions + 6G0 user datas partitions) can be removed and replaced by up to 32Go microSdcard (not tested)
- No flash available via sdcard - Need a PC + "mfgtool.exe + windows drivers + system files" to be flashed (pandawill forum = files + tutorial)
- Camera 2.0 Mpx on front tablet
- No bluetooth, but some xda members are working on a "Lenovo bluetooth card" adaptation ;-)
- Battery life = 8 hrs (build in battery = 7200 mAh / last evening i used my tablet from 5:45pm to midnight (wifi ON) - battery life when i shuted it off = 28%...) Battery needs 5-6hrs to be fully charged
- Google Market is actived
- Flash 10.2 is ok, just need to install it yourself using your market access, will be added i the next roms i hope
- Tablet is Rooted but needs to be unrooted and rooted again with "Z4Root.1.3.0.apk" to have fully root access (can be freely downloaded on Google Market)

Have a nice day :-)

My Model seems same like yours:

Uses Dock Port to charge, green power light, red when charging offline, orange when charging online.
has 2GB internal NAND Flash, expandable with TF Card up to 32 GB
Model number: imx51_bbg
came original with:
imx51_bbg-eng 2.2 FRF85B eng.pengfaxin.20101216.171452 test-key
I upgraded to:
Kernel version: 2.6.31-506-g30df573-gb2b143e - ye@ye-desktop #1
Build number: imx51_bbg-eng 2.2 FRF85B eng.pengfaxin.20110112.134311 test-keys
with Files for MG106C (A works, with B touchscreen doesn't work)
http://www.4shared.com/.../Files_for_MG106C.html
has aluminium case,
2,5" headphone connector and powerbutton on top
menu/home button on the right side
bluetooth
no camera
no hdmi
30pin applesytyle connector on the bottom, beside the connector reset and hole for speaker
from the outside it seems to be only one mono speaker, but the opened device shows there are 2 speakers side by side as you can see on the second picture

pictures from the opened device:
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

as you can see, there is much potential to hack the device (e.g. miniPCI-Express slot not soldered on the mainboard, cameraconnector free ...)

known bugs:
location framework doesn't work (can get no actual location via WIFI from google-maps etc.)
accu never shows loading
the original IPAD style homescreen lacks in showing all installed applications
(I see angry birds, angry birds season, angry birds rio after installation, but after reboot the icons have been gone, but apps are still installed)

would be nice to hear from never or custom ROMS, or gingerbread or honeycomb builds for this tab

Did you notice how this un-coldered socket lines up vertically with the SIM slot, it loosk like it anyway.

Perhaps thats their plan, a PCI-E 3G Card.

I would like to mount a Wireless N Card on it personally...

OK so now we need pics of the system board from the new model that just came out, with camera, new screen etc.

it can probably tell us what some of the headers on the system board are for. since more of them will be in use on it.

I'd be happy to provide a firmware extraction. Two questions:

1. Can you link me to a procedure for the extraction? I don't know if it will affect the extraction, but my particular device has no visible recovery mode...I can boot to the Elvis mode by holding Vol+ and Power on boot, but I haven't installed the USB drivers specific to that yet. I have the adb/dev kit installed, and am able to push/pull/etc., but that's about as far as I've gotten with it...no firmware utility specific apps installed on the device or on my Win7 64 PC.

2. I don't know if it makes a difference when you extract the firmware, but I've rooted the device, disabled cell phone standby mode by renaming phone.apk, and failed in an attempt to create a working full-access market by pushing various .xml files and a new market and vendor .apk to the unit...market no longer works at all via either the market app (force closes) nor the web interface. I believe that the .apk pushes I did worked, but when I select the market app, it no longer opens. Neither, by the way, does the gmail client work, nor will the unit accept a new account under settings/accounts.

I did request a source for a factory firmware image from the vendor I bought from (as well as in a different thread), but for now, I'm relying on a working Amazon app store as well as the usual sources outside of market for .apk's. Angry birds works, but...

There's another guy who bought the same tablet from another vendor, although i don't know if his firmware is as new as mine. Out of the box, the only fault I had with it was access to "old" market only.

HI Mate.
I receive the same tablet today and it is already bricked. I need desesperately the firmware files. I already ask the seller (China) to get the files for me. Said tomorrow will talk to the factory in order to get the firmware. If you get the firmware before me please send it to me. The tablet ELVIS) connects to the pc without problem. The app MFGtools works. The only thing I don't have is the firmware.

Master{}, I read over your extraction of the M10 firmware thread, did you simply root, connect, and adb pull the system folder to your PC? If so, and I copy this procedure for the firmware from my device, do I need to worry about personal data stored in this folder, or is it strictly firmware with personal data, settings, stored elsewhere? Also, do you have an ftp or some such I can upload to?

Also, are you able to enter the screenless recovery mode on the M10, using the procedure I do with mine ("Elvis" USB connection mode, enabled by connecting via USB and pressing upper volume knob while holding power on)?

There is at least one other member here who has bricked their same model tablet, I'd like to be able to help him out if I can...

personal info as far as i know is stored in /data/

just root and pull the system folder

PM me and i can give you a place to upload to.

zip the extracted files to a zip file, not a rar, or anything else.

i will setup a browsable mirror just like mine.

Just wanted to add...although the info on my firmware I show above is what's shown under settings, my build.prop file reports that firmware version under display.id, but after ro.build.version has a number next to it identical to Sjoerd's.

Oh, and my toggle switch disables screen rotation when up.
