I have a Nokia OTG that I purchased here: http://cgi.ebay.com/...=item3a640778bb

With this cable, I can confirm that a USB keyboard works with the Xoom. USB mouse I tested does not work, and so far no thumb drives. For the thumb drives, it could just be a matter of setting up a mount point, but I haven't tested that yet.

did the external keyboard work without "rooting" the device? I am interested in doing this myself and maybe using it also for an external gamepad if possible. I use a Pandigital Novel 9. Thanks for any info.

On the Xoom, a USB keyboard "just works" - no rooting. you just need the cable

On the PDN 9 inch, nothing works (I have an OTG cable that fits it). I think the problem is the Android 2.0 kernel or framework - it does not support OTG.

Thanks for the info. I will wait then and see if they will put out any updated firmware in the future.

Does this mean Xooms can't connect to OTG devices like hard drives etc? I thought it did.
