I've been waiting for a decent video review. What I've found on you-tube is 1 or 2 pretty vague Chinese site videos.
Here's whats on eken's site http://www.ekengroup.../show.asp?id=27

hi,thcrw739, your mp4nation.net link took me to "ViaPad 7" Android 2.2 Tablet - VIA 8650 + Camera", i have confirmed that your viapad is exactly M009S.
and when i searched on google,i got Pandawill's M009S and reviews on their forum. It seems that M009S is good enough for android2.2 tablet under $100

So far, it looks to me decent and clean, it recognizes which side is up and switches the display. The browser is a little laggy, but not too bad. I had one freeze-up early on which necessitated a power cycle. It involved putting in and removing an 8gb micro SD card--all seemed fine after rebooting.
The biggest problem I have so far is that I haven't figured out how to download apps. It has a Chinese market, which I'm leery of (and it didn't look like it had much of interest). No android market, and the consensus seems to be that that must be installed in firmware for it to work. I tried installing AppBrain Market, but that seemed to go around in circles, saying "your phone is not registered, try installing AppBrain Market". I tried to install SlideMe, and one other market which wanted me to select a platform first (androlib?)--no luck for me there. Is there any good way to install apps when you don't have Android Market?
After much flailing I found in the FAQ that AppBrain only works when you are already synced with Android Market. Able to browse, but otherwise stuck so far.

More concerning the device.
The wifi works but seems weak. From a spot 30 feet away through three walls, two laptops, an Asus WL-520gU running openWrt in client mode, and a dockstar with a wifi dongle are all able to connect to my AP, but this tablet is not. Rather it can see the AP, says it connects, but cannot retrieve anything. I set up another router as an AP a few feet away and the wifi works fine with that.
Still looking for a way to get Android Market, or some other suitable market, if anyone has any suggestions.

Do you have a link to the firmware as I may be able to inject the Market apk into it, well if its not to much different then the older Eken firmware that is.

The google market is not working and come installed with the chinese version but this is not a problem. There many aplications and I'm using applanet, very recommended.
Now there some bugs I want to fix like the battery. The icon show all the time fully charged 100% untill it shutdown after 2 or 3 hours.

I found here many files to download. I think are the latest firmwares:

Hopefully you can include the google market and adding more language like the thai, persian, arabic, hebrew or at least fonts for this languages.
Regards!

If you could get market on this Roger, it would be a god send.
I think these are gonna take over from the Eken M001 in popularity - verym, very good value for money
What about a complete firmware removing all the crap chinese bloated apps?

We would gladly supply you with one if you are willing to do a bit of work on the custom firmware - it would make all the difference to us Roger. This is a great little tablet and would benefit tremendously from cutting out some of the bloatware and adding android market.
